Today is the day!

Each year, the District of Kitimat and the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce along with a group of volunteers hit the streets to visit local businesses to gauge how things are going and what supports would help them best.

The Business Walk is now in its 12th year. The results from previous Business Walks are on our website too.

Reminder!

The second advanced voting opportunity for the Kitimat general local election happens today, Wednesday, October 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Riverlodge Recreation Centre.

After today, general voting day is Saturday, October 17, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Voting will be available at both Riverlodge Recreation Centre and at Mount Elizabeth Middle Secondary School on this day.

Two weeks ago, we were pleased to join with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce in hosting the Winning Work: Kitimat Procurement Forum.

We were happy to have guest presenters from:

- Bugwood Coffee
- Export Navigator
- Rio Tinto
- LNG Canada
- Cedar LNG

Together this half-day event shared knowledge about the availability of local business supports and best tips for accessing work with local industry.

We're getting charged up to collect your old batteries!

Together with Kitimat Understanding the Environment , a Curbside Household Battery Round-Up is happening the week of October 26 to 30.

Here's how it will work:

🔋 Place your batteries in a sealable bag, like a Ziplock, and put them on top of your food waste bin on your collection day.
🔋 Be sure batteries are at the curb by 8:00 a.m., and collection will run from 8 to 11:00 a.m..
🔋 Weight limit is up to 5 kg.

We're positively looking forward to this!

Last call to register for Entrepalooza, which happens tomorrow at 5:00 p.m.. This is a great event for business people to connect, share ideas and find business resources.

This is run together with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Entrepalooza is back for 2026!

This event, co-hosted with the Kitimat Chamber of Commerce, is a chance for local business people to network, get resources, and have a shot at a $1,000 grant for their business.

The event happens on Thursday, October 8 from 5 to 8:00 p.m., at the Hirsch Creek Golf and Winter Club.

Repairs are wrapping up and ice users are back on the ice at the Kitimat Ice Rink as of yesterday afternoon. And we sure did miss it!

Bears are still out and looking for food. Make sure they can't find any at your place!

🐻 Put your waste bins in a secure place between pick-up days.
🐻 Sort your waste, food waste is picked up every week.
🐻 Clear animal attractants from your home such as fruit on trees, outdoor pet food, and uncleaned BBQs.
🐻 On collection days, place your bins out no later than 8:00 a.m. but no earlier than 4:30 a.m. Bins must be brought it by 9:00 p.m. that same evening.

Bylaws are in place to discourage animal attractants on properties, and not tending to issues such as these could possibly result in fines.
