RM of Lac du Bonnet Council has given the new Zoning By-Law 02-26 first reading. A Public Hearing will take place Monday, Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. in the RM Council Chambers.

We encourage the public to attend. Representations may be at the Public Hearing or by filing a written submission before or at the hearing.

The Variation & Conditional Use Public Hearing scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19 has been cancelled. All Variation & Conditional Use applications will be handled at the Aug. 18 Regular Council Meeting.

Travel Manitoba's Wildfire Resilience Assistance Program is offering qualifying tourism businesses, such as wilderness lodges and outfitters, subsidies of up to 90 per cent for value protection units. Each value protection unit includes sprinklers, hoses, a water pump and necessary connections.

The RM recently enacted a Speed Limit Requests Policy to establish a consistent and transparent process for evaluating and implementing speed limit requests for municipal roads.

Residents can submit a speed limit change requests to the RM Administration Office using the speed limit change request form available on our website or at the office. The RM will then undergo an evaluation process to determine if the speed limit should be changed.

UPDATE: This project will now begin Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The RM of Lac du Bonnet will begin asphalt paving on Drifter's Bend starting Tuesday, Aug. 11, weather permitting.

Drifter's Bend will remain open to traffic during construction, with paving planned one lane at a time. However, motorists should expect intermittent delays of approximately 15–20 minutes while paving equipment is operating. Temporary restrictions on access to individual businesses may occur during these periods.

The intersection of Drifter's Bend and PTH #11 will be closed during portions of the work.

The public is asked to exercise caution when travelling through the construction zone and to follow all posted signage and the direction of traffic control personnel.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we undertake this important infrastructure upgrade.

We have issued a request for tenders for the production and stockpiling of traffic gravel.

The contractor shall provide all necessary labor, materials, supervision, fuel, mobilization, demobilization, crushing plants, screens, testing, and auxiliary equipment to process and stockpile 70,000 cubic yards of crushed traffic gravel at the municipal pit by Dec. 1, 2026.

The deadline to submit a tender is Aug. 28, 2026.
