In early to mid‑June, once ground conditions are suitably dry, members of the public will be able to obtain a provincial Personal Use Timber Permit to access firewood associated with the Manitoba Hydro Pointe du Bois transmission line project stockpiled along PR #520. Permits for this area will be valid until the closing date of Sept. 6, 2026.
Personal Use Timber Permits will be issued in-person only from the Lac du Bonnet District Conservation Office.
Permits can be obtained by each individual household to remove up to a maximum of 10 cords (25 m³) of firewood from designated stockpile areas along PR #520.
A provincial permit fee applies and is based on the authorized volume on the permit. For reference, a 1‑cord (2.5 m³) permit is approximately $26, while a 10‑cord (25 m³) permit is approximately $74.50.
The firewood has been processed into approximately nine-to-11 foot lengths and consists primarily of poplar as well as some other hardwoods like ash.
