We are a Coast Salish People who have lived around the Salish Sea for thousands of years. Our traditional territory on east Vancouver Island includes four reserves of more than 1,200 hectares, much of it bordering the Strait of Georgia and Ladysmith Harbour. Our Nation has 1,300 members with about half living on our reserves. We are a rapidly growing Nation, offering our members a range of opportu

nities, programs and services. We are a member Nation of the Hul’qumi’num Treaty Group and Naut’sa mawt Tribal Council. Notice for our Oyster Bay residents. Ladysmith has entered Stage 2 water restrictions.

Stage 2 water restrictions are now in place for the Town of Ladysmith, Stz’uminus First Nation, and the Diamond Improvement District.

What this means for you ⬇️

💦 No outdoor watering from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm
🌱 Limited lawn sprinkling (two hours per designated day)
• Even-numbered addresses: Wednesdays
• Odd-numbered addresses: Sundays
🌽 Micro/drip irrigation or hand watering of vegetable gardens permitted (4 hours per day max)
🍎 Micro/drip irrigation or hand watering of fruit trees allowed (4 hours per day max)
🚘 Vehicle/boat washing allowed
🌼 Hand watering of ornamental trees, shrubs and flower gardens allowed (2 hours per day max)

SES is offering upcoming WHMIS training sessions at Thuq’min!

🗓 Training Dates
Friday, June 5 @ 9:30am - 12:30pm
Course Details:
- Minimum age: 14 years
- Class size: 10–18 students

WHMIS teaches participants how to safely work with hazardous products in the workplace, including understanding WHMIS symbols, safety labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), safe handling practices, worker responsibilities, and emergency procedures.

This training is suitable for anyone entering or working in industrial, retail, maintenance, custodial, healthcare, or food service environments.

🚤 PCOC Boating Safety Course at Thuq’min

SES is offering two upcoming PCOC Boating Safety Courses led by Sail Canada Instructor Jason Bowman at Thuq’min.

This in-person, interactive course covers general boating and water safety. Each participant will receive a Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Certificate (PCOC) card upon successful completion.

Wednesday, June 3 & Wednesday, June 10
☀️ Course 1: 10:00am–3:00pm
🌙 Course 2: 4:00pm–8:00pm
📍 Location: Thuq’min
11917 Silverstrand Rd.

Maximum class size: 10 students per course.
Included with the course:

- Classroom instruction
- Written exam
- Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Certificate (PCOC) card
