This is the time of year I start thinking of programs to host for the next year. Help me out here.

What will YOU actually come to?

I want to see more people in the library.

What do YOU want to do in the library? And include the times you can do it. Be ready for me to ask about instructors etc. I am happy to build programming and search for grants but I do need some details, especially when it is a new subject to me.

Are our opening hours convenient? Provincial funding allows up 13.5hrs per week. We can shift our open hours if there is enough interest. Keep in mind that Saskatchewan labour laws say 3hrs minimum call out.

Any other ideas?

Do you need a little time and space away from the pressures of everyday life to focus on your writing? Join us for our Nov 2026 Facilitated Retreat; this retreat is perfect for beginner or emerging writers who have never been to a SWG retreat and would like to dive deeply into their writing for a few days.

We are hosting our Facilitated Retreat from Nov 12-15, 2026 at St. Peter’s Abbey in Muenster, Saskatchewan. At the SWG Facilitated Retreat, our Writers-In-Residence will give an introductory talk on an aspect of writing and meet with each retreatant individually to discuss your writing and/or answer your writing-related questions. Retreatants will also enjoy undisturbed writing time, provided meals and socialization with each other, the inspiration of St. Peter’s Abbey and a sharing of each other’s work on Nov 14. The facilitated retreat is designed as a time for you to focus on the writing you would like to do and to gain encouragement and motivation by interacting with the Writers-In-Residence and your fellow participants.

Finding time to write can be challenging when life is already full. Jobs, caregiving, family responsibilities, health concerns, and everyday demands can leave writers wondering where their writing life is supposed to fit.

In this practical and interactive workshop, Toby Welch will help participants let go of myths about the "perfect" writing life and discover an approach that works with the life they actually have. Participants will explore how they use their time and energy, identify the type of writing routine that works best for them, discover ways technology can make writing easier, and learn why sustainable minimums may be more effective than ambitious word-count goals.

It’s time to get Loud for Libraries!

Attention All Writers!!!

CBC has a contest running. Short story 2500 words or less. Closing is Nov 1. There is a cost unfortunately of $25 but the prizes are great.
