There’s a moment that happens every summer at camp.

A camper steps into camp on check-in day, maybe feeling nervous or anxious, wondering what the week ahead will bring. Then they spot a familiar face. A friend. A counsellor. Someone who remembers their name.

Suddenly, the uncertainty fades into excitement.

For many campers, that feeling of being welcomed exactly as they are is what keeps them coming back year after year.

This Canada Day, we're reflecting on the importance of belonging. Because when communities remove barriers and make space for everyone, people gain the confidence to try new things, build lasting friendships, and discover what they're capable of.

Together, we're helping create a Canada where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and feel at home.
