Diking and flood control is a municipal responsibly.

The Senate Committee on Agriculture & Forestry released their report today in regards to our regions vulnerability to flooding. Last year the flooding “impacted in excess of 15,000 hectares of land, 1,000 farms, 2.5 million livestock, and B.C.’s road and railway infrastructure, causing an estimated $285 million in damage.” The report offers three recommendations one being the need for a flood control plan including a timeline for d**e upgrades as being critical to protecting the region.
Langley’s diking system on the West side is around Debry Reach with two pump stations and in the east Langley Township partners with Abbotsford in Glen Valley. Largely the concern has been around the Fraser River in the summer with rapid snow melt. The atmospheric rivers however, during the fall months are becoming a more prevalent pattern and caused the catastrophic floods we saw in Sumas in 2021.

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that supported me over the last few weeks. Although I was not able to secure a seat on council it was such a great experience meeting other candidates and many people in Township that I would have not otherwise had the opportunity to.

Congratulations to my fellow candidates for all your hard work towards making Langley’s future brighter. The township is lucky to have so many amazing people that care about it and its residents

A special thank you out to the community organizations and associations that held candidate meetings to bring their concerns and questions forward and to create an opportunity for residents to come out and get involved.

Lastly Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out and vote.

I am very sorry to see that a number of women have come forward over the past 24 hours to share they are being aggressively intimidated through anonymous and vile threats.
This type of violent harassment against anyone can not be tolerated.
I hope our community as a whole shows support and stands against this kind of behavior. As I commented yesterday, these woman should not be subjected to this and the stress of dealing with this kind of behavior. No one should be.
