Today at the Doug and Fran MacDonald Langley Hospice Residence, we had a visit from directors, Jordan Sparrow and Bruce Farquhar, so Residence Manager, Jennifer Podskalny, could show them one of the fourteen new beds that the Township of Langley Firefighters Charitable Society helped us purchase with the proceeds from their Charitable Golf Tournament last year.

These beds have the option to expand to fit the larger cuddle bed mattresses and can be moved into a sitting position, all with one push of a button. This ensures that we can provide important options to accommodate our residents requests. The residence is their home while they’re with us and we want to ensure individuals and families have what they need to make their stay with us a comfortable one.

We are grateful for the caring and compassionate community that has helped us make these impactful new additions a reality. We know that it’s because of the generous support we receive from donors and supporters like the TLFCS that we are able to show up for our community in meaningful ways and continue to hold space for individuals and their families, when they need it most.

Today, our Child & Youth bereavement team held their fourth session of our new program. Tonight’s recipe was shortbread cookies ♥️

This program brings together 6 of our youth clients each with a recipe that reminds them of their person and each week they recreate one of the recipes with the group and share why it’s special and some of their memories. At the end of the program they will receive a small recipe book to take home.

This week, Angela, our manager of Palliative Programs and two of our palliative program volunteers, Melba and Sherri, attended "Dialogue through Experiential Learning: Drum Making Sessions" with Stephen Armstrong.

This was an Indigenous‑led drum making workshop held during BC’s Anti-Racism Week, provided through the National Newcomer Collective for Truth and Reconciliation, and the Delta, Langley and Surrey Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) member agencies.

Our team members were excited to participate in a meaningful cultural learning experience rooted in relationship‑building, reflection, and respect for Indigenous knowledge systems.

Grateful for learning opportunties like these.

So incredibly greatful for how our community has come together to allow Langley Hospice Society to purchase 14 new expandable beds for our Doug and Fran MacDonald Langley Hospice Residence.

Surprise anonymous donation helped Hospice buy beds a year earlier than planned
