Langley City should be a community where people can afford to live. Langley City First will continue to advocate to the provincial and federal governments to fund affordable and accessible housing projects and to implement policies that increase housing affordability for all people. Locally, our team continues to reform bylaws and policies to drive housing affordability and accessibility, and to create spaces for people to work, live, and play.

Professional leadership is not about titles. It is about experience, preparation, and results.
I have served Langley City on Council since 2016 and as Mayor since 2022, bringing years of experience in technology, transportation, and community development to City Hall.
During this term, Langley City doubled annual contributions to infrastructure reserves from approximately $1 million to $2 million and increased its capital projects budget from approximately $15 million to $30 million.
I have spent years working on transportation, land-use, and sustainable community design issues - experience that is especially important as Langley City prepares for major growth and the arrival of SkyTrain.
Good city planning means thinking years ahead about infrastructure, housing, transportation, and how our community grows.
Professionalism means planning ahead, understanding the details, and turning decisions into measurable results.

To everyone who calls Langley City home,
Leadership is not about telling people only what they want to hear! History shows that meaningful reform rarely comes from popular slogans or easy promises. Real reform requires the courage to explain difficult decisions honestly - why they are necessary, what they will cost, and what they can achieve for the community in the long term.
Real progress sometimes requires difficult decisions - investing in infrastructure, preparing for growth, improving public safety, or making choices that may not always be popular in the moment.
Our approach is simple: explain the facts, explain the costs, explain the reasons - and be honest about the trade-offs.
That means open discussions, public access to information, community input on major decisions, and accountability for what has - and has not - been achieved.
No easy promises. Facts, transparency, and responsible decisions!
Not slogans, but decisions.
Not criticism, but results.

We talk a lot about physical community infrastructure such as streets, parks, water and sewer lines. Just as important for a strong community is its social infrastructure. Langley City's Citizens' Assembly noted that strong communities require strong neighbourhoods where neighbours know each other and have the tools to support each other. Langley City First is committed to implementing the recommendations of the Citizens' Assembly and creating a community where people feel they belong, have opportunities to connect with others, and have access to supports when needed.

To everyone who calls Langley City home,

Transparency and accountability are easy words to put on a campaign sign. What matters is what we actually do. Over the last five years, we’ve worked to make Langley City’s decision-making more open, responsible, and connected to the people who live here.
This fall is one example. Residents will have an opportunity to weigh in on two significant proposed investments: the $73 million expansion of Al Anderson Pool and the $107 million expansion of Timms Community Centre, together with a new Performing Arts & Cultural Centre. These are major decisions with long-term financial implications, and residents deserve to understand the costs and have their voices heard.
At the same time, we’ve continued to strengthen Langley City’s financial position while significantly increasing investment in capital projects and infrastructure.
For us, accountability isn’t a slogan. It’s a record of actions! Our approach to Langley City is about building, creating, and moving forward. Debate and criticism are part of democracy, but our focus remains on what we can actually create for our community: better recreation, stronger community spaces, opportunities for arts and culture, and infrastructure that will serve the next generation.
Less about slogans. More about building something that lasts!

To everyone who calls Langley City home,

Over the past five years, we have worked hard to make our community safer. Keeping our streets safe takes more than words! It takes resources, people, and long-term planning. During this time, Langley City has added 9 firefighters and 5 police officers, invested in modern emergency equipment, and continued strengthening community safety services. Public safety has remained a clear priority.

I understand why the promise of lower taxes sounds attractive. We all want affordability. But there is another side to that conversation: what services are we prepared to reduce to get there? Langley City is growing, and with SkyTrain coming, we need to plan ahead. Growth brings opportunity, but it also requires strong public services, infrastructure, police and emergency response. Lower taxes is an easy promise to make. The harder question is what we are willing to give up to achieve it. For me, public safety is not where we should take that risk.
Safe streets. Responsible investment!
For me, being Mayor is not about the title. It is about being there when Langley City needs me.

Fiscal responsibility isn’t about slogans. It’s about decisions! Langley City has the -lowest spending per resident in Metro Vancouver - a record that reflects a long-standing commitment to careful financial management.
Under Mayor Nathan Pachal’s leadership, fiscal responsibility has remained a priority: protecting essential services, investing in Langley City’s future, and respecting the people who ultimately pay the bills - Langley City taxpayers.
That responsibility matters even more when political disputes, of investigations, and legal proceedings can consume hundreds of thousands of dollars in public resources.
Residents have every right to ask: could these disputes be handled differently, without creating unnecessary costs for taxpayers?
It’s easy to criticize. It’s easy to make big promises. Responsible leadership is harder. It means doing the work, looking at the numbers, considering the consequences, and treating every taxpayer dollar with respect.
That is the approach Nathan Pachal and the Langley City First team are committed to continuing: responsible decisions, accountable government, and a financially strong Langley City.
