Our Youth need a space in Leduc! Please vote for this project using the link in the comments (takes 2 seconds) and share this post. Let’s build a legacy for our young people together.

🎉 LEDUC, WE HAVE SOME EXCITING NEWS! 🎉
Our project, “A Space of Our Own: Building Belonging for Youth in Leduc”, has been selected by Field Law to move on to the next round of consideration!
This is a BIG step forward for a vision we care so deeply about: creating a dedicated space where Leduc’s teens can gather, connect, build friendships, explore their interests, and simply be themselves.
We hear it from youth in our community. They want a place that feels like it’s theirs. A place where teens can claim their space, find their people, try new things, and just be teens — whether that means laughing too loud, discovering a new passion, or hanging out without needing a big plan. 💚
That’s what A Space of Our Own is all about. And we’re so excited to see this vision move one step closer to reality!
NOW, WE NEED YOUR HELP!
🗳️ Head to the link below or scan the QR code to cast your vote and help us bring this vision to life!

Every vote helps build momentum toward creating a space our youth deserve. Let’s show Field Law just how much our community believes in its young people!
Because when young people have a place to belong, the possibilities are endless. đź’š

Like so many Albertans, I was heartbroken to hear the news of a tragic incident at CFB Wainwright this weekend. We may not yet know the full extent of what happened, but we know that families and the entire community are hurting.

On behalf of Leduc City Council and the City of Leduc, I extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives. To those who were injured, and to all who have been touched by this tragedy, please know that our thoughts are with you.

Our military members and their families make tremendous sacrifices in service to our country. This is a terrible loss for the Wainwright community, the Canadian Armed Forces, and all Canadians who feel a connection to those who serve.

In moments like these, we are reminded of the importance of coming together and showing compassion and support for one another. We are deeply grateful to the first responders, emergency personnel, and frontline workers who have worked tirelessly to respond and provide care.

As a gesture of respect and solidarity, flags at City of Leduc facilities will be lowered to half-mast in honour of those affected.

Leduc stands with Wainwright and the Canadian Armed Forces community during this difficult time. We are thinking of you, grieving alongside you, and wishing strength to those facing difficult days ahead.

Leduc RCMP are urging residents to exercise caution following a recent increase in reports regarding aggressive door-to-door salespeople in the community. He approached my house claiming he worked for Firefly Solar. He was extremely pushy and rude and also tried to make it sound like he was working with the City of Leduc. He is not! I’ve reported the interaction with the police.

Leduc. Alta.- Leduc RCMP have received complaints from residents of door-to-door salespeople using high-pressure tactics, persistent unwanted solicitations, and individuals refusing to leave premises when asked. Leduc RCMP want to remind the public of their rights as consumers, and tips to protect themselves and their homes.

· Always request to see company-issued photo identification before engaging in conversation or opening your door.

Refuse any transactions, donations, or signatures unless the individual provides legitimate, official credentials that can be verified independently.
Never feel pressured. Legitimate businesses will always allow you time to research products, verify credentials, and think over a decision.
Keep doors secured. You are under no obligation to open your door to strangers or invite sales representatives inside your home.
Never pay cash upfront. Be extremely cautious of sales reps demanding cash deposits or immediate upfront payments before any work or service begins.
If a salesperson becomes hostile, refuses to leave your property when instructed, or acts suspiciously, do not engage further. Immediately contact the RCMP non-emergency line at 310-RCMP (310-7267 across Alberta). If you feel threatened, unsafe, or believe a crime is in progress, call 911 immediately. If you suspect fraudulent door-to-door activity, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (1-888-495-8501) and Service Alberta Consumer Investigations. You can also verify whether a direct-selling company is legally licensed in Alberta by contacting the Service Alberta Consumer Contact Centre at 1-877-427-4088.

🏒 HOCKEY FAMILIES — HAVE YOU ALREADY PAID YOUR REGISTRATION FEES?

You may still be eligible to get up to $750 PER CHILD back for the 2026/2027 hockey season through KidSport Leduc & County and the Hockey Assist Program (HAP).

Yes, even if you’ve already paid your hockey registration fees, you can still apply.

And before you think, “We probably make too much to qualify…” — you might be surprised.

KidSport uses LICO + 50% to determine financial eligibility, which means the household income limits are higher than many families expect.

🏠 Family of 4: household income up to approximately $88,900

🏠 Family of 5: household income up to approximately $101,000

If you qualify, HAP can provide up to $750 per child toward eligible hockey registration costs.

And let’s be practical. If you’ve already paid those fees, having $750 per child returned to your household could go a long way heading into Christmas. 🎄

Don’t assume you won’t qualify. Apply and let us determine your eligibility.

🏒 Applications are open for the 2026/2027 hockey season.

👉 if you see this on FB apply at: https://kidsportcanada.ca/alberta/leduc-and-county/apply-for-a-grant/
👉if you see this on IG apply using the link in our profile:

Please share this with a hockey family in Leduc, Leduc County, Beaumont, Calmar, Devon, Millet Thorsby, Warburg, and Wetaskiwin and everywhere in between. They may have already paid their fees, but they may not have missed their opportunity for support.
