True Meaning of Love-Danielle Steel
-Large Print
-February 24 is the eighteenth birthday of a Ukrainian ballet school student named Vlad. It also happens to be the day that the first bombs of the 2022 Russian attack land on his homeland. As life for every person in the country is turned upside down in a moment, Vlad is immediately called up to serve in the military. But as much as he wants to defend his country, he is desperate to get his girlfriend, Tatyanna, an orphan whose only home has been the ballet school, out of the country. With their home under siege, Tatyanna tries to make her way to safety in Poland. Also joining the refugees is Yulya, who is torn between getting her young children across the border and staying at the side of her husband, Symon, and her elderly parents, Petro and Oxana, who refuse to abandon their home. As millions flee, Vlad and Symon join a volunteer civilians’ unit to fight. Even elderly citizens like Petro and Oxana are given AK-47s, though soon starvation becomes as much of a threat as the encroaching troops. Sasha, an obstetrician, and Anton, a surgeon, who are secretly lovers, stay behind to treat the never-ending waves of wounded. When the Russians bomb hospitals, the heroic couple finds themselves delivering babies in bomb shelters. Through the stories of Vlad, Tatyanna, Yulya, Symon, Sasha, and Anton—each struggling to protect their loved ones and preserve their own humanity—Danielle Steel tells a gripping and deeply moving story of regular people surviving as a war rages around them.

NEW BOOK ALERT!

Getting Away with Murder-Shari Lapena (**)
-"The tenth thriller from the New York Times bestselling author of The Couple Next Door. Jill and Ted adore their New York brownstone the way others adore their children. They have carefully, expensively, made every inch of it their own. It reflects who they are, their status and tastes. With the grand mahogany staircase and state-of-the-art kitchen, it is the stuff of glossy magazines and real-estate dreams. It is their sanctuary. So when Ted's inheritance runs out and he makes a bad investment, they panic. How can they protect their beloved home and enviable lifestyle? The answer is obvious. Or at least, it is obvious to Jill and Ted. The death of one wealthy family member -- from whom they stand to inherit millions -- could solve all their problems. Together, they will get away with murder. As long as they trust each other. As long as neither makes a mistake. As long as there are no surprises ... "-- Provided by publisher.

The Littlest Elephant-Katherine Applegate
-children's picture book
-"Ruby is the littlest elephant in the herd at the animal sanctuary, where she lives near her best friends Ivan the silverback gorilla and Bob the lovable mutt. Ruby loves all the things that make being an elephant fun, like splashing in muddy puddles and spraying water through her trunk. But there are parts of being an elephant that she doesn't love so much, like her new tusks. The herd is preparing for Ruby's Tuskday, a day to celebrate the fact that Ruby is growing up, and for remembering as lots of happy memories, but she also has lots of sad ones, ones that are hard to think about. Surrounded by the love of her herd and her friends, the littlest elephant will see that growing up doesn't have to be scary, and that remembering the darkness can help us appreciate the light"-- Provided by publisher.

The Unknown-Riley Sager (**)
-"In 1926, five women disappeared from a remote island in Vermont. Now, one-hundred years later, it's happening again"-- Provided by publisher.

Ever wonder what we do for the Summer Reading program??

Every program starts with independent reading and then we do a group activity/ice breaker! Sometimes it's answering "get to know you" questions, sometimes it's answering the most off the wall questions, sometimes it's acting out silly things. Sometimes we are doing activities for our community. You just never know what I'll come up with!

Summer Reading runs every Wednesday from 10:30am-11:30am for the months of summer. This program is for school-aged children that are comfortable independently reading in some way.

NEW BOOK ALERT!

The Night we Met-Abby Jimenez
-In everyone's life, there's a split-second decision that can change everything ... For Larissa, it came when choosing who to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she'd met the perfect man. She and Chris are great friends, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy. But she didn't choose Chris to drive her home all those months ago--she went with his best friend, and he became her boyfriend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. How can something that feels so right be absolutely impossible?

Wombat Waiting-Katherine Applegate
-"Wombat isn't actually a wombat -- but when the homeless dog is discovered, singed and ash-covered after a terrible fire destroys a community, someone tags her with the nickname and it sticks. Wombat is a "destiny dog." Something inside of her (she nicknames it "Voice") keeps telling her there's a special someone out there who is meant to be her person. Surrounded by a devastated town, Wombat takes up residence on a bench near the makeshift community center, an old brick warehouse that, for the most part, survived the flames. A small part of the community center evacuation site has been repurposed for the local wildlife rehab sanctuary that burned down. All of the animals were spared, and the temporary quarters include an elderly fruit bat and a young Northern saw-whet owl. No matter what, Wombat refuses to move from her perch, despite the efforts of many humans. Clearly the dog is waiting for someone. But for whom? And what are the odds they survived?"-- Provided by publisher.
