That's a wrap. We are sad to have reached our final day as service provider of the Lethbridge Shelter and Stabilization Centre. The clients accessing services are incredibly resilient individuals and we consider it a privilege to have been able to meet, learn from, and provide client care for them these past 3 years.
The path to improving the circumstances of those experiencing is a difficult one but it is incredibly important, valuable work. We wish the Blood Tribe Department of Health every success as they step into their new role as service provider.

Emergency Supports for Lethbridge

The City of Lethbridge has activated its extreme temperature response plan to provide a safe and warm space for residents without shelter ❄️

The following facilities are now open as comfort centres to provide shelter from the weather:

Lethbridge Public Library -Main branch
Mon. – Tues. 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Wed. – Sat. 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sun. - 1 – 5 p.m.

Lethbridge Public Library - Crossings Branch
Mon. – Wed. - 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Thurs. & Fri. – 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Sat. – 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Sun. – 1 – 5 p.m.

Regional Park n' Ride Transit terminal
Mon. – Sat. – 6 a.m. - midnight
Sun. – 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.

We had a lovely time at Art for a Cause yesterday! A group of business students put together an art show featuring with all proceeds from the event supporting the Lethbridge Shelter!

Alpha House has been partnering with Tom Jackson for many years now, benefitting from his kindness and generosity in so many ways. And yet another will be his pre-holiday Canadian charity tour called Stories, Songs & Santa Causes!
"What we hope to accomplish is to bring joy to a place that hasn’t had joy for some time. Happy is healthy, and healthy is happy. We want to make people healthy, to bring laughter." - Tom

Our Shelter was nearly 100% OVER capacity again last night meaning nearly twice as many people as we are funded for. There are a lot of great agencies in the city willing to work together but without adequate resources and community buy-in and support, we are concerned about those MOST impacted by the temperatures we know we can expect this winter.
Cheers to our partners in the sector including Streets Alive Mission and Blood Tribe Department of Health for stepping up in different ways as able. Collaboration and willingness to put in the work will be key to supporting our this winter and always

Cold, snowy weather persisting this week, . We are continuing to work with individuals experiencing to help them get inside to warm up, even if it is a temporary break from the weather to access showers or supplies or connect with staff.
