The River Valley Fire Ban in Lethbridge has been lifted.

Recent precipitation and cooler temperatures have reduced the fire risk in the River Valley. We will continue to monitor conditions; fire restrictions may be reinstated if conditions become hot, dry and windy again.

Extreme heat can damage lithium-ion batteries and increase the risk of fire.

Keep phones, power tools, vapes and spare batteries out of direct sunlight and hot vehicles. Remember to let hot devices cool before charging.

Today, Lethbridge City Council received an EMS update. Although there has been some positive communication with the Province, their funding model has not changed. Council’s decision to not accept the contract conditions remains in place and the City continues to be open to further discussions. UPDATE: The collision has been cleared and the road re-opened. Police thank the public for their cooperation while officers were on scene.

Police are currently at the scene of a collision and have closed Highway 3 at 28 Street South. Eastbound traffic is being diverted to the the Mayor Magrath Drive off ramp.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area or expect delays.
