This morning, we welcomed LFES retirees and their spouses to Station #1 for a special breakfast and a chance to reconnect with on-duty crews.

Many of our retirees continue to meet monthly for breakfast at LSCO, and it was a privilege to bring that tradition into the fire hall. The morning created an opportunity to share stories and recognize the lasting contributions of those who helped build this department.

It was also an opportunity to introduce retirees to our Wall of Honour, which recognizes members who have served in our department since 1886.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, to the Chief and Deputy Chiefs for personally supporting the breakfast and to the crews who worked together to make the morning possible.

Once LFES, always LFES!

The boating advisory has been lifted due to improved conditions on the Oldman River.

Water visibility remains reduced and temperatures are still cold, so please use caution and be prepared before heading out.

Wear a properly fitted lifejacket or PFD, carry the required safety equipment and avoid alcohol or other intoxicants on waterways. Remember to share your float plan with someone before you go.

River conditions can change quickly. Check current conditions before you float, paddle or boat at rivers.alberta.ca

Three homes were damaged following a structure fire in the 4500 block of 28 Avenue South this morning.

No injuries were reported. Fire investigators remain on scene to determine the origin and cause.

Food truck season is here, and fire safety comes first!

LFES has partnered with Coaldale & District Emergency Services and Taber Fire Department to help food truck operators serve safely across southern Alberta.

Through the partnership, operators only need one annual fire inspection to operate in all three communities.

Our Fire Prevention team was out with Parks Department staff assisting with river valley assessments after the recent heavy rainfall. Using LFES drone support, crews assessed river conditions and identified potential impacts.

While the rain has stopped, conditions along the Oldman River remain hazardous. Residents are asked to stay away from the river, riverbanks and low-lying trails, and to respect any closures or barricades in affected areas.

A boating advisory remains in effect, and everyone is asked to stay off the Oldman River until conditions improve.

Captain Davis has been instrumental in supporting several important LFES programs, including our Critical Incident Stress Management team, Chaplaincy program and shift training program. Through his leadership, mentorship and commitment to others, he continues to help make LFES a great place to work.

With the Oldman River now exceeding recommended safe flow rates for boating or swimming, Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services has issued a boating advisory, effective immediately.

For the safety of river users and emergency responders, LFES advises everyone to stay off the Oldman River until conditions return to safer flow rates and the boating advisory is lifted.
