From live music and community booths to taiko drumming, Yosakoi dancing, and an incredible drag performance, the day was filled with celebration, connection, and joy. Thank you to our performers, vendors, volunteers, and guests for helping create such a welcoming and vibrant event.

This is not a formal language class, but rather a conversational space to connect, learn, and share. Whether you’re a beginner or more experienced, all levels are welcome. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, build confidence, and enjoy light, everyday conversation in both languages.

The atmosphere is informal and flexible—participants are encouraged to learn from one another through conversation, simple activities, and shared experiences. Depending on the group’s interests and age range, we may also include light crafts or games to support language learning in a fun and engaging way.

Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is pleased to present "The Sumi-e Paintings of Yoshiko Hirano".

Yoshiko Hirano began studying Sumi-e painting later in life and went on to create artwork for more than 30 years. Her paintings beautifully capture nature, emotion, and movement through expressive brushwork and minimalist design.

We invite guests to experience this thoughtful and inspiring exhibit while exploring the peaceful atmosphere of the Garden. Hirano's works can be seen inside the Bunka Centre and the Pavillion.

Join us for our Kids Craft Corner, a fun and creative space for visitors of all ages to explore hands-on activities inspired by Japanese culture.

This is a volunteer-led program, and crafts will vary daily depending on the volunteers available and the skills they would like to share. Activities may include origami, colouring sheets, water calligraphy, and other simple, engaging crafts.

The program is flexible and welcoming—guests are invited to drop in, participate at their own pace, and enjoy a creative moment during their visit.
