A huge thank you to my good mate and my longest-standing friend here in Lethbridge Chris DiPasquale of Lethbridge Real Estate.com for stepping up with a very generous donation to our Men's Sheds Big Chop for Men’s Health campaign.
Chris, thank you brother. Your support moves us another step closer to our $5,000 goal. 🙏
And with only 10 days remaining until the end of August, we’re turning our attention to another incredibly important part of our community: 𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗚𝗘 & 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗕𝗘𝗥𝗧𝗔 𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗦.
We’re asking local businesses to consider joining Chris and supporting our campaign. And when you do, we’re going to give your business a huge shout-out right here on the Men’s Sheds page.
Why?
Because supporting your community deserves to be recognized - and Men’s Sheds is developing a pretty remarkable online reach.
Just look at the engagement from one of our recent business posts:
👥 35,229 viewers
💬 8,672 engagements
🌎 97.2% of viewers were NON-FOLLOWERS of our page.
Those numbers tell us something important. Men’s Sheds isn't just building a community inside our workshop - we're building one online too.
That creates an opportunity for our local business community to partner with us in a way where everybody wins: businesses receive meaningful community recognition, Men’s Sheds expands its reach, and together we raise money for something that can genuinely impact men's lives.
So, what are we raising money for?
At the end of August, Men's Sheds Lethbridge & Coaldale Executive Director Mark Vella will cut off three years of hair growth, with the hair itself being donated to charity.
But the haircut is only part of the story.
Funds raised through the campaign will help us acquire at-home stool screening kits for early bowel cancer detection, which we intend to make available 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 through Men’s Sheds.
For many men, getting checked isn't something they naturally prioritize. Sometimes embarrassment gets in the way. Sometimes it's fear. Sometimes we convince ourselves we're too busy. And sometimes we simply don't talk about our health until something is wrong.
We want to help change that.
By making screening more approachable and accessible through a trusted community environment like Men’s Sheds, we hope to encourage more men to take that simple first step toward looking after themselves.
A haircut starts the conversation.
A donation helps provide the tools.
Early detection could change a life.
So here's our challenge to the Southern Alberta business community:
Can you help us reach $5,000?
Whether it's $50, $100, $250, $500 or more - every contribution moves us closer.
And we'll proudly recognize the businesses that step forward and help us lead the charge for men's health in our community.
