Wenácw Sqwal'útkalha (We Speak the Truth) – Community Stories
On September 30, 2026, community members and leaders gathered in Lillooet for the 3rd annual Wenácw Sqwal'útkalha (We Speak the Truth) Gathering.

In these videos, St’át’imc videographer and former Chief Sid Scotchman speaks with Kukwpi7 Bonnie Adolph, Councillor Rena Joseph, Councillor Moon Moore, and others about residential schools, healing across generations, culture, language, leadership, and what is carried forward to our children.

We are grateful to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and stories, and to Sid Scotchman for recording these important conversations.

Please take the time to listen and reflect, and share these videos with your networks.

Please note: These videos include discussions of residential schools, abuse, and addiction.

More photos of Wenácw Sqwal'útkalha!

This year we set up a dream catcher and asked people to add their dreams for truth and reconciliation. By the end of the day, it held 28 dreams. Some were a single word, like "Hope." Others were prayers for children to grow up proud and cared for, without carrying the weight of the past. People dreamed of respect for the land, water and air in St'át'imc Territory, and of no more bullying or racism.

Most of all, people dreamed of coming together. As one person wrote, "We all do better when we all do better".
