🎃🔥 Keep Halloween spooky, not smoky!

Carving your pumpkin this Halloween? Choose a flameless LED candle instead of a real flame.

Real candles can ignite pumpkins and nearby decorations, dried leaves, costumes and other flammable materials. A battery-operated light gives you that same spooky glow without the fire risk!

Have a safe and happy Halloween from Lincoln Fire Rescue! 🚒👻

✈️ As Fire Prevention Week comes to a close, Lincoln Fire Rescue has one more charging safety tip to share - especially for your next trip!

🔋 Keep charging devices where you can see them.

When charging a portable device on a plane, keep it on the tray table - never in an overhead compartment. And remember, e-cigarettes and vapes should never be charged on a plane.

If a battery overheats or fails, keeping your device within sight and within reach allows the flight crew to respond quickly.

Thank you for helping us Charge into Fire Safety™ this Fire Prevention Week! ⚡

Keep these battery safety tips in mind wherever you charge, and help keep our community safe.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues! Today’s charging safety tip from Lincoln Fire Rescue is especially important for e-bike, scooter and power tool owners.

⚡ Charge larger devices safely.

When possible, charge e-bikes, scooters and other large battery-powered devices outside in a safe, appropriate location. Never charge them where they could block an exit or prevent you from getting out quickly in an emergency.

These batteries can store a lot of energy, and if something goes wrong, a fire can grow quickly.

🔌 Charge smart. Keep exits clear. Stay safe.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues! Here’s another simple charging safety tip from Lincoln Fire Rescue:

🔌 Unplug when your device is fully charged.

Once your phone, tablet or other battery-powered device reaches a full charge, unplug it when you can. Leaving it plugged in longer than necessary can create additional heat and put extra stress on the battery.

A simple habit can help you charge smart and charge safely. ⚡

🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues! Lincoln Fire Rescue is sharing another important battery safety tip: know the warning signs.

⚠️ Stop using a device immediately if the battery:
• Smells unusual
• Feels hot to the touch
• Makes popping or unusual noises
• Changes shape or colour
• Begins to smoke

A damaged lithium-ion battery can overheat and start a fire. If it’s safe to do so, move the device away from anything that could catch fire and keep your distance.

If you see smoke or fire, get out, stay out and call 9-1-1.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week continues, and Lincoln Fire Rescue is sharing another simple way to charge safely!

⚡ Give your devices room to breathe!

When charging your phone, tablet or other battery-powered devices, always choose a hard, flat surface like a table, desk or floor.

Beds, couches and pillows might be comfortable for you, but they can trap heat and block airflow, increasing the risk of your battery overheating.

🔌 A little extra care when charging can go a long way toward keeping your home and family safe.

🔥 As we continue Fire Prevention Week, here’s another charging safety tip from Lincoln Fire Rescue!

🔌 Use the right charger.

Whenever possible, use the cord and charger that came with your device or one that’s approved by the manufacturer. The wrong charger can damage the battery and increase the risk of a fire.

A small choice can make a big difference when it comes to keeping your home and family safe.

⚡ Charge smart. Charge safely.

🔥 Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10!

This year, Lincoln Fire Rescue is joining communities across North America to remind residents that safe charging is a superpower. ⚡

Lithium-ion batteries power many of the devices we use every day, from phones and tablets to e-bikes and power tools. A few simple charging habits can help reduce the risk of battery fires.

🔌 Use the charger designed for your device
🏠 Charge on a hard, flat surface — not on a bed or couch
👀 Keep an eye on devices while they’re charging
⚠️ Replace batteries or devices that are damaged or showing signs of overheating

Help us Charge into Fire Safety™ and make smart choices every time you plug in.

🗞️📣Good news for and other municipalities in Southern Ontario:

Effective October 1, 2026, Southern Ontario fire departments will be eligible to receive reimbursement from the Province for qualifying no-service responses on provincial highways. This creates an opportunity to recover some costs that may otherwise be borne by the municipality. 💲

This decision follows years of advocacy efforts by the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs and the Town of Lincoln requesting this framework be reconsidered. 🙏

Previously, the no-service reimbursement provision was available to Northern Ontario fire departments.

Fire departments will continue to respond to emergencies as required. The new framework changes the reimbursement process, not the service provided to residents.

As always, the safety of our residents is our top priority. 🚒
