ROAD CLOSURE | Town of Lincoln, Ontario

King Street (Regional Road 81) from Lincoln Avenue to Birchmount Avenue will be closed on Friday, Sept. 4 and Tuesday, Sept. 8, weather permitting.

The closure is for sanitary sewer replacement work.

• Westbound: Ontario Street (Regional Road 18) > South Service Road (Regional Road 40) > Durham Road > King Street (Regional Road 81)

• Eastbound: Durham Road > South Service Road (Regional Road 40) > Ontario Street (Regional Road 18) > King Street (Regional Road 81)

🟠 Severe Thunderstorm Watch (Orange) Issued 🟠

Environment Canada has issued an Orange-Level Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area this afternoon into this evening.

Conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms capable of producing:
🌬️ Wind gusts in excess of 110 km/h.
🌧️ Torrential downpours. Localized rainfall amounts up to 50mm.
🧊 Quarter to ping pong ball size hail.
🌪️ Risk of tornado.

Given the recent flooding in our community, the Town is closely monitoring conditions and is prepared to act quickly as required.

Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items, prepare for possible power outages, and monitor weather conditions throughout the day.

⛈️ When thunder roars, go indoors. If threatening weather approaches, take cover immediately.

🚧 Upcoming Temporary Road Closure - King Street (RR 81) 🚧

Please be advised that Niagara Region will be closing King Street from Lincoln Avenue to Birchmount Avenue, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary for the replacement of service laterals as part of the replacement of the sanitary sewer.

📍 King Street (RR 81) from Lincoln Avenue to Birchmount Avenue
📆 Friday, September 4 & Tuesday, September 8
⌚️ 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

🚗 NO through access
🚧 Detour routes are listed on Lincoln.ca
🏡 Local residents between Lincoln Avenue and Birchmount Avenue will have access via Birchmount Avenue unless notified in advance by the Contractor that driveway access may be impacted.

🏛️ Town Hall will be closed Monday, September 7.
💧 Water samples will not be collected after Thursday, September 3 at 11:30 a.m. Services will resume on Tuesday, September 8.

🌿 Flood Recovery Update: Bartlett Creek Cleanup

As flood recovery efforts continue across Lincoln, remediation and cleanup work along Bartlett Creek is scheduled to begin Wednesday, September 2, weather permitting.

Crews will begin at Hilary Bald Park and work their way south along the creek and trail, completing cleanup and restoration work following the August flooding.

🚧 Work is expected to take approximately 3-4 weeks. Sections of the trail will be temporarily closed as crews progress through the area.

Please respect posted closures and give crews space to work safely. Thank you for your patience as we continue working to restore areas impacted by flooding.

⚠️ Environment Canada has issued a Yellow-Level Heat Warning for Niagara beginning today, September 1 through Wednesday, or possibly Thursday.

🥵 Daytime highs: up to 30-32°C
🌙 Overnight lows: 20-23°C (little relief)
🔥 Humidex values near 40°C

⚠️ Heat risks are greater for:
👶 Young children
🤰 Pregnant individuals
👵 Older adults
🏃‍♂️ People with chronic illness or working/exercising outdoors

Stay safe:
✅ Drink water (before you’re thirsty!)
✅ Avoid peak sun hours
✅ Use shaded areas and cool spaces
✅ Never leave people or pets in vehicles
