Today is World Hunger Day. It was established in 2011 by the international organization The Hunger Project to raise awareness about chronic hunger and food security, as well as to promote sustainable solutions to eliminate it. Travelling Tales has many titles that can support conversations about food security and poverty to help conversations with littles in your care. Reach out today to check yours out.

International Day of Families was established by the UN in 1993 to draw attention to the importance of the family as a fundamental unit of society and to raise awareness of the social, economic and demographic processes that affect families around the world. Families come in all different forms and may be dealing with social, economic, legal or cultural challenges that affect the well-being of their unit. Use our library books to have conversations with children about what their families look like – offer them a chance to see their world represented in literature!

Have you wondered how to navigate conversations with the littles in your care about disabilities? Ensuring children with disabilities see themselves represented in literature is extremely important for their self identity and to make sense of the world around them. We have many resources to support you with this in our library. Ask your Early Learning Coordinator how to check out these resources from our library!

Every few years, athletes from all around the world come together for a big, exciting event called the Olympics. They travel from many different countries to show their skills in sports. Athletes wear their country’s colors, share their cultures, and make new friends—even if they don’t speak the same language!
