We know firsthand how much volunteers give to our community!

At Community Care, we’re incredibly grateful for the volunteers who share their time, skills and compassion to help make Kawartha Lakes a more connected and active place to live.

That’s why we’re excited to share this opportunity from the Kawartha Lakes Sport and Recreation Council to recognize an outstanding Volunteer of the Year.

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to support recreation and active living in our community? Maybe they volunteer their time to help lead a fitness or wellness program, welcome participants, lend a helping hand during activities, or create opportunities for others to stay active, connected and engaged.

Take a moment to nominate someone who deserves to be recognized! Nominations are open until October 1. Visit the post below for a link to the nomination form.

Let’s celebrate the volunteers who give so much to make our community stronger!

Do you know a volunteer in the sport and rec community that goes above and beyond?

Nominate them for Volunteer of the Year at this year's KLSRC Volunteer Recognition Event being held on Nov 5 at the Lindsay Recreation Complex.

Just fill out the form here using this link: https://forms.gle/mgm7YFbsgCD7c3Sy8

Give Doug a wave! 👋

Not every ride is to a medical appointment. Sometimes, it's a ride to a moment that means everything.

This week, Doug is making it possible for a client to attend an important family gathering, helping them be there to celebrate, reconnect, and create lasting memories with the people they love.

Our transportation drivers help people stay connected to more than healthcare. They help connect people to family, friends, community, and the moments that matter most.

If you see Doug out on the road this week, give him a wave! 👋 It's a small way to recognize the compassion and dedication our drivers bring to every journey.

Our drivers are helping Drive Care Forward every day. If you'd like to support accessible transportation in our community, visit drivecare.ccckl.ca make a donation.

On Monday, August 31, Hospice Services will be joining our community in recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day. 💜

We’ll be attending the flag-raising ceremony alongside community partners as we remember those who have died, stand with those who are grieving, and show our support for everyone affected by substance use and drug poisonings.

This year’s theme, “25 Years On. Still Needed.”, reminds us that there is still important work to do to reduce stigma, increase understanding, and support compassionate, life-saving responses in our communities.

📅 Monday, August 31
🕥 10:30 a.m.
📍 Kawartha Lakes Police Service, 6 Victoria Avenue North, Lindsay

Together, we can create a community where people affected by substance use and loss are met with compassion, understanding and support.
