The 170th Listowel Fair is officially open. As a past president, I joined other colleagues in the ribbon cutting to open the fair. The fireworks were great tonight as well. Congratulations to the new ambassador, Emily Royce. The fair is open this weekend. Lots of great events July 17, 18, 19.

I am a Director with the Stratford Perth County Community Foundation. Today I attended the Perth County Holstein Club Twilight Meeting. I represented the Foundation to share how farmers can create a Legacy Fund where their principal investment stays at the foundation and continues to grow so that their gift keeps on giving to a charity of their choice forever! A cool concept and an amazing way to leave a legacy by supporting the community forever.

The ribbon cutting for Countryside Meadows was today and we were glad for the sunshine. This development is in Wallace Township in North Perth. Our hope is that a new school will be located on this development as well. This will depend on provincial funding.

Research has shown that the key element for people to feel safe and secure is to have a home where they belong. Housing has become so expensive and for people starting out or for people on a fixed income like seniors, housing costs are unaffordable. United Way Perth-Huron and United Housing Perth-Huron are making a difference! We thank them for their leadership!

Happy New Year! Wishing everyone in 2026 a wonderful year with good health, prosperity, and success in all you strive to do. We are currently facing multiple days of snow events with road closures with lots of snow, high winds and squalls. Stay safe out there and over the course of our winter season. Thank you to our North Perth Municipal roads crew for all of their efforts to work in our crazy winter conditions.
