Ramblers once again got together Friday afternoon to entertain and have fun.
This event was held at Sudbury Retirement Manor where residents waited patiently as the band did their set up.
Place was hopping once the music from the 50’s and 60’s.
Lovely to watch a couple who have been dancing together for 66 years get up and sway around especially to those old favourite waltzing tunes.
David spends a few minutes chatting with audience while the band members take a brief breathing moment.
He talks about what the Sudbury Shrine Club has accomplished over its history helping children and continues to do so.
Thanks everyone for all their support in December when we spend a day with a table set up sell our famous Christmas Fruitcake, cookies & syrup.
Band has caught their second wind and is ready to get rolling again.
Fan favourite “You Are My Sunshine “ begins and everyone is encouraged to join in one the chorus.
After close to 2 hours it’s time for band to sing their final number.
Great afternoon of playing to a fantastic audience.

Sudbury Hillbilly Ramblers entertained residents of St. Joseph Nursing Home on Tuesday afternoon

Hands clapping and feet tapping to the beat of nostalgia music from 50 & 60.
Great way to spend a rainy day playing to a packed house.

April is traditionally the month where the Sudbury Shrine Club has our annual Vidalia Onion campaign. For a variety of reasons, we had to cancel the fundraiser last year. Well, that gave us the opportunity to bring a BIGGER and BETTER program forward this year. As the replacement to the onions, we have sourced LOCAL ORGANIC Sweet Spanish onions. These are grown here in Northern Ontario using traditional farming techniques.

But wait, there is more. Remember I said BIGGER AND BETTER? Well, we have added in Music GARLIC. Again, traditionally grown locally in Northern Ontario.

In fact, we are having both of these crops GROWN FOR the Sudbury Shrine Club. As these are local crops, we have had to move our delivery date to early September.

We have been testing both of these products over the last several months and WOW. The onions have a great shelf life, fantastic flavour, and with the shorter travelling distance, promise to arrive in great condition. The garlic, well, it is not like that stuff you get in the grocery store. This actually has flavour. I am still using last years crop with no special storage.

The onions will be $17 for a 10lb bag, and this will be approx 8-10 heads based on last year. The garlic is $10 for a 1lb bag and will be approx 8-10 heads.

Sudbury Shrine Club Penny Farthing Unit hosted their Prohibition Spaghetti Dinner Saturday evening.
There were a number of guests dressed for the event.
Amazing how some of those beautiful oversized men’s suits and fancy ladies dresses are right back in style.
Kevin’s extra garlicky Caesar Salad started off the meal.
Cathy made all the sauce for the spaghetti which was served with chicken legs & thighs.
Can’t forget the toasted garlic bread.
Dessert was your choice of homemade cherry, blueberry or sugar pie with ice cream.
Lots of laughs during a new game of YES or No
( you had to be there to understand)
Wonderful evening ending with the raffle of a men’s watch being won by Dick.
