De-streaming can’t succeed without the staffing, supports, and class sizes to make it work.

Meeting increasingly complex student needs requires more time, attention, and resources in the classroom, not less.

That’s why OSSTF/FEESO is fighting for meaningful class size protections at the bargaining table.

OSSTF/FEESO school board members: four weeks from today, on Friday, November 6, you will be asked to cast your strike vote to give your bargaining team a strong mandate at the table.

Your participation and a strong yes vote will show the government that members are serious about defending public education and securing a fair deal.

The central strike vote will run from November 6–16.

Proper staffing is a key OSSTF/FEESO bargaining priority.

Staffing shortages mean fewer supports for students and greater pressure on the teachers and education workers who are already being asked to do more with less.

We’re fighting for better working conditions that help recruit and retain qualified staff and ensure Ontario schools have the people and supports that students need to succeed.

Today, we remember the Indigenous women, girls, and gender-diverse people who have been taken from their families, loved ones, and communities through violence and disappearance. We honour their lives and acknowledge the profound loss carried by those who love them.

As education workers, we can help by continuing to learn, sharing the importance of this day, challenging racism and discrimination, and ensuring these truths are not ignored. We can also support the calls from families, survivors, and Indigenous communities for justice, accountability, and meaningful change.

Every Indigenous woman, girl, and gender-diverse person deserves safety, dignity, and a future free from violence.

May we honour those who are missing and those whose lives were taken through our commitment to the work that remains.
