Did you know? In Nova Scotia it is an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act to drive over a fire hose that’s laid out on a street, private driveway, or road during a fire unless you have permission from the fire marshal or the fire department official in charge.

According to the Summary Offence Ticket Regulations under the Motor Vehicle Act:

First offence: $128.75

Second offence: $157.50

Third (and subsequent) offence: $215.00

Always wait for direction from a fire official if you encounter hoses across a road — don’t drive over them unless explicitly told it’s safe to do so.
