On April 21st, London Family Court Clinic had the opportunity to host an insightful training with the Canadian Child Interviewing Research Team.
Together with our community partners, Ontario Provincial Police, London Police Service - Canada, Stratford Police, Crown attorneys, and CAS London we explored how child development shapes memory—and why this matters in forensic interviewing. Understanding how children process, store, and recall information is critical to ensuring interviews are accurate, ethical, and trauma-informed.
The session also highlighted the 10-step interviewing approach, reinforcing best practices that help reduce suggestibility, support reliable disclosures, and ultimately strengthen outcomes within the justice system.
A special thank you to Dr. Angela Evans and Dr. Kaila Bruer for sharing their expertise and leading such an impactful session.
This work is essential to improving how we listen to and support children and youth.
