In a campaign experience as difficult and exhausting as this, Ethan Gardner's success commands respect and shows his abilities to represent our community. Therefore, I would like to formally congratulate Ethan and his team on this feat and wish him success in his new role.
Ethan and I have had many chances to chat outside of the campaign cameras, and we are very similar people in beliefs and leadership. I believe we need to rebuild our community in a safe format, and Ethan believes that too.
I urge everyone who voted for me to congratulate him on his success and plans for the Westernโs future. Under Ethan's leadership and with Western Student's support, I believe all areas of the Student Experience will thrive.
I want to thank my campaign team. I don't believe we will ever say we lost because we have had the privilege to impact so many people positively throughout the campaign. My team has put in so much work to support me getting here. Without them, I would have just been another name on the ballot box; with them, we became a platform for a better student experience. They have proven that persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. Second, I want to thank every student leader who has organized debates, consulted with me, and represented their student's voices. You are all the future of Western, and I hope you will also have the opportunity to be a presidential candidate.
Finally, I want to thank every student who voted for me and everyone who messaged me with positive affirmations. The idea that people I don't even know yet support and believe in me is so beyond comprehension. I feel simultaneously honoured and humbled by this election experience.
I want to thank all the other candidates for their time running for this election. Their willingness to put themselves forward as someone ready to serve the students of Western makes them the most honourable people I have met in my time here. I know we will all be grabbing drinks soon to chat about the beautiful chaos of these last two weeks on the campaign trail.
Ethan has achieved a great thing for himself, and I am confident he will continue doing so for the next year in this role.
