Know the rules before you ride. 🛴

Electric kick-scooters are legal in London for riders aged 16 and older and offer a convenient way to get around the city. But safety (and following the law) matters.

Here’s what riders need to know:
✔️ Riders must be 16+
✔️ Riders aged 16 or 17 must wear a helmet
✔️ E-scooters can be used on roads posted 50 km/h or less, bike lanes, and multi-use pathways including the Thames Valley Parkway
✔️ Maximum speed is 24 km/h under Ontario’s pilot program

Remember:
❌ No riding on sidewalks
❌ No riding on hiking trails or in Environmentally Significant Areas
❌ No riders under 16

Ride safely, stay alert, and share the road responsibly. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3CCFEpj

June is Bike Month. It’s a great reminder that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. ✔️ Whether you’re riding or driving, we all play a role in keeping our roads safe.

Cyclists:
🚲 Obey all traffic signs and signals
🚲 Use lights and reflectors when riding at night
🚲 Ride in the same direction as traffic
🚲 Wear a properly fitted helmet (required in Ontario for riders under 18)

Drivers:
🚗 Check mirrors and blind spots for cyclists
🚗 Give cyclists at least one metre of space when passing
🚗 Watch for bikes when opening doors or turning at intersections
🚗 Slow down and stay alert in shared roadway areas

Let’s work together to make every ride and every commute a safe one this Bike Month.

A quick stop can become life-threatening. Never leave pets unattended in parked vehicles. 🐾

The temperature inside a vehicle can rise quickly, even on a mild day. In just a short period of time, pets can suffer heat exhaustion, heat stroke, serious injury, or death.

Remember:
☀️ Vehicle interiors heat up within moments
🚫 Cracking the windows is not enough
🌳 Parking in the shade does not eliminate the risk
⏱️ “Just a few minutes” can quickly turn into an emergency

The safest option is simple: leave your pet at home when errands require you to leave them unattended in a vehicle.

If you see an animal inside a vehicle and it appears to be in distress, call 9-1-1 immediately. Help protect your loved ones this summer.
