For a second year, the donated funds raised from children's ticket sales to Shine Foundation✨!
Last year, their donation supported Alberta Dreams like a visit to the East Coast, accessible driving lifts, and an all-terrain rig. They even welcomed two Dreamers while they experienced the beauty of Banff.
Superseding last year’s donation, organizers, donors, and participants raised $20,819.74 to help deliver Shine Dreams for young people living with severe physical disabilities!

“Each morning is its own climb before we ever meet the chairlift. Mom gets you dressed, fed, and bundled up and then I carry you in my arms across the deep snow in my ski boots to sit you in the sit-ski chair. The rental isn’t always available when we get there and it always requires adjustments. As you grow bigger, you need equipment with better support. That’s why your Shine Dream will mean so much.” – Cooper’s Dad.

Sunshine was established in 1987 by a London, Ontario police officer as a legacy to his son who passed away from muscular dystrophy. He wanted children like his son to be able to live their dreams. In October of that year, the first Sunshine DreamLift flew 203 children from London to Walt Disney World® in Florida.
By 1990, Sunshine was truly national, fulfilling Sunshine Dreams and DreamLifts for kids across Canada in BC, Alberta, Yukon, Ontario, New Brunswick and PEI.
By 2000, we officially became known as “Sunshine Dreams For Kids.” Celebrities ranging from hockey superstar Wayne Gretzky to Barney the Dinosaur were helping us fulfill Sunshine Dreams, and Sunshine DreamLifts were winging kids away for day-long adventures out of cities across the country, including Edmonton, Sault Ste. Marie and Halifax.
Now, over 30 years later, Sunshine continues to spread across Canada. Headquartered in London, ON with a national volunteer network coast-to-coast, Sunshine has fulfilled dreams for more than 8,500 children across Canada and coordinated 63 Sunshine DreamLifts.
Dreams to Come
An estimated 63,000 children across Canada medically qualify for a Sunshine Dream. Many of them have endured more than we can ever comprehend. We continue to grow and to raise awareness of Sunshine in communities throughout the country. Together, we can make Sunshine Dreams a reality for even more kids across Canada.
