In Ontario, AHACs were first announced in 1995 in response to epidemic, systemic health disparities and inequities within the Aboriginal population across Ontario. They operate from a wholistic Aboriginal health framework which is often referred to by Aboriginal people as “the good life” or as restoring the “good mind”. The framework focuses on the restoration and rebalancing of the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal people, families, communities and Nations, and understands “culture as treatment”.

PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS!
Are you or someone you know an Indigenous youth living in London between the ages of 14-18 who value creativity, community, and sharing lived experiences?

If so, we have an exciting opportunity coming up to participate in a research study in collaboration with Westerns Indigenous Food Sovereignty Program (IFS).

This program will occur on September 21st and 22nd from 4pm-7pm and will include a Mini Zine Workshop to reflect, share, and process feelings surrounding what it means to be an Indigenous Youth living in an urban setting.

This program requires time commitments in September, October, and December.

If this is something that interests you or someone you know, please reach out to Child & Youth Worker Aneika LaFayette to register: [email protected]

For any direct research questions, please reach out to the Western IFS team.
