After two days of online and advanced poll voting, 1,093 votes have been cast, representing 8.8% voter turnout.

The Township of South Stormont has lowered the flags at the Municipal Office to half-mast in honour of the lives lost and all those affected by the tragic events at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, Alberta, on October 17.

Our thoughts are with the fallen members, those who were injured, their families and loved ones, and the entire Canadian Armed Forces community.

South Stormont joins communities across Canada in mourning this loss and honouring the service of those impacted.

After the first day of online and advance poll voting, 581 electors have cast their vote. That’s approximately 4.7% of eligible electors.

Have you added your voice to the total? Every vote matters, and there’s still time to participate.

Please see this notice from The City of Cornwall regarding a road closure on Cornwall Centre Road on October 20 and 21.

🚨 ROAD CLOSURE EXTENSION NOTICE 🚨

Please be advised that the closure of Cornwall Centre Rd. at the CN Rail Crossing has been extended until Friday at 6:00 PM for additional emergency repairs.

Detour Route: Traffic in both directions will continue to be detoured via Vincent Massey Dr. and Power Dam Dr.

Please follow all posted detour signage and allow for extra travel time. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation!

The Township is currently undertaking an Environmental Assessment for the future expansion of the Long Sault Wastewater Treatment Plant, and we want to hear from you.

🍂 Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Reminder 🍂

A reminder that the next Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Day is Monday, October 19.

Please place material at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Collection begins early and may take multiple days to complete due to high volumes. If your bags are not collected on Monday, please leave them at the curb and crews will return to complete the route.

✅ Maximum 20 bags per household
✅ Compostable paper bags only
✅ Branches must be bundled
