No spring open house this year but I am getting ready for a rather big event of a different kind happening in a couple of weeks. That's all I'm going to say for now. ;)

Thank you to everyone who ventured out on a chilly day to walk the halls of the old hotel and share with me there memories.

And to those who came out to see the inside for the very first time. I hope you will be back again.

I also want to thank my husband Blair and my dear friend Tania for helping me yesterday. Photo credits to Tania.

I know the old walls were breathing in the laughter and memories yesterday and was grateful for those who continue to care about it's restoration and new future.

Now it's time to get back to work! 😀

Two of my favourite flowers, lupins and daisies, both growing on the grounds of the hotel. I planted both of these plants here and it is so nice to see the lupins multiplying and spreading.

Why do people paint beautiful wood trim?

This wood was never intended to be painted. It was chosen for its beauty to be appreciated and not hidden.

And the holes! 140 years of curtain rod abuse have taken its toll. I can promise you that from here on out all curtain rods will be installed in the wall so the full beauty of the wood can be appreciated as it should.

Once I finish scraping and sanding off as much as I can I will go over it with methyl hydrate and steel wool to remove as much as I can before the shellac goes on. Hopefully the holes will fade into the background.

Happy weekend!
