📣The Village's voluntary vegetation management program now available for private property owners.
===
🏡If you're a Village of Lytton property owner (especially if you live outside of the community), you may wish to sign up.

The new program allows property owners to pay a $200 annual fee for 2–3 scheduled visits by Village staff to cut grass, trim around structures, fences, and barriers, and reduce vegetation on their lots.

The program aims to reduce fire hazards on private properties, while supporting compliance with the Village's bylaws.

This week, planned water service interruptions in the Village of Lytton and IR 18 were required for watermain replacements as part of the West of Main Street Sewer & Water Project. Thanks to everyone for their patience during these upgrades.

While the water was shut down at the Parish Hall, there was a great turnout for Coffee with Mayor & Council, which was moved to the Village Office.

📣The Village has been doing work to reconnect water at the Aspen Planers Sawmill Site (at 769S- Trans Canada Highway), where the Village Office is located. This will provide better flow for fire protection.

⚠️Work is taking place to start removing burnt trees and debris from the Saw Creek wildfire. There is construction equipment in the area. Use caution if you are travelling to the Village Office today or tomorrow (August 11 and 12).

📣See the update from the BC Wildfire Service. Effective today, off-road vehicles (including all-terrain vehicles, and off-road side-by-side vehicles) are prohibited on Crown land throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre (including Lytton).

Given the scope and scale of wildfires currently burning in B.C., and to further protect public safety, recreational off-road vehicle use will be prohibited on Crown land in the Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres, as well as parts of the Cariboo and Coastal Fire Centres. This prohibition is effective immediately, as of 12 p.m. (noon) on August 10, 2026.

Full information for current prohibitions and restrictions is provided here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/fire-bans-and-restrictions
