Nestled in the heart of Hastings County lies the unique community of Centre Hastings with a population of 4,801 residents spread out over 222 sq. In 1998 the Urban (Madoc Village) and the Rural (Huntingdon Township) amalgamated to form the Municipality of Centre Hastings. Boasting a rural, urban and recreation setting the municipality offers many features for residents and visitors. Among the inv

iting amenities is the Centre Hastings Park, that is home to the widely known Skate Park. In addition there are many other recreational features throughout the Municipality from South to North. Many family farms still exist in the rural setting of the Municipality along with modernized farming. The various farming elements consist of dairy, beef, sheep, pigs along with hobby farms. Centre Hastings is the home of Moira Lake that is a popular spot to local and foreign visitors for Muskie, Bass and Pickerel fishing. The park and boat launch is undergoing major upgrades by the local Kiwanis club, High School and volunteers. In a small urban setting the village offers a variety of shops and services. One of the major services provided is the Tri Area Medical Centre.

2026 Spring Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Schedule

🌿 Spring Clean-Up 2026 🌿

It’s time to tidy up your yard! The Municipality will collect leaf and yard waste on your regular waste pickup day only during the following weeks:

Week of April 27, 2026
Week of May 4, 2026

Please follow the guidelines below to ensure your materials are collected:

✅ Acceptable Materials:
• Grass clippings
• Leaves
• Twigs and small branches
• Plant material (no soil)

❌ Unacceptable Materials:
• Sod or soil
• Stumps and root balls
• Rocks and stones
• Plastic of any kind

📌 Collection Requirements:
⏰ Have materials curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your regular pickup day
🌿 Tie brush into bundles no longer than 3 ft, with branches no larger than 2 inches in diameter
🛍 Use paper yard waste bags only
⚖️ Each bag must not exceed 40 lbs (18 kg)
🌧 Roll bag tops down to keep contents dry

🌱 Municipality of Centre Hastings Community Trees Event – Coming Soon! 🌳

Each year, the Municipality of Centre Hastings partners with Quinte Conservation to host the Community Trees Event.

This program is strictly for residents of the Municipality of Centre Hastings and provides free tree seedlings, with a limit of up to five (5) trees per person 🌳.

Residents are reminded to bring a suitable bucket or container for transport and to keep seedlings cool, dark, and moist until they can be planted 🌿.

This initiative supports local environmental stewardship and helps enhance the natural beauty of our community 💚.

The 2026 event date will be announced once Quinte Conservation confirms scheduling with the Municipality. The event is anticipated to take place in May 2026 📅.

Open Air Burning Restrictions Begin April 1 – Centre Hastings Fire Department

🔥Fire season in Centre Hastings runs annually from April 1 to October 31. Residents are reminded to follow all burning regulations to help protect our community and prevent wildfires.🔥

Burning Regulations

-Burning restrictions are between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (brush, grass, or similar materials).
-Burning of brush and leaves is allowed between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m, unless a fire ban is in effect.
Exceptions

Burning is permitted at any time under the following conditions:

-Fires used exclusively for cooking or warmth.
-Fires no larger than 1 metre by 1 metre, attended at all times by a person 19 years of age or older.
-Fires that are fully contained in a metal container and covered with metal mesh or screening (less than ¼ inch) to prevent sparks from escaping.

Important Information

-The public will be notified if burning restrictions are in place prior to April 1.
-Failure to comply with these regulations may result in fines and charges for fire department response.
-Burning of hazardous or toxic materials is strictly prohibited at all times.

Please follow these regulations to help reduce the risk of wildfires and keep our community safe.
