Hello MB Pool Friends!

Hard to believe we are midway through August! Hoping we do get more rain we desperately need, and at the same time, we are fully enjoying the sun as it makes for beautiful days at the pool. The water is spectacular … come and swim!!!

We are happy to share that the pool will be open a few more days into the month.

Saturday, August 23rd, and Sunday August 24th:
1-2 Lane Swim
2-5 Public Swim

Monday, August 25th and Tuesday, August 26th:
12-1 Lane Swim
1-4:30 Afternoon Public Swim
4:30-5 CLOSED
5-6 Lane Swim
6-7:30 Evening Public Swim

Sophie, Ava, Abigail, Eve and Jill are heading to university this year so we want to give them an enthusiastic sendoff 😊

Please come to the closing party on August 22nd AND as many of the additional swim times as you can!! 😀

We are officially welcoming you all back tomorrow, July 12th, at 12PM for the first swim of the season. We are so excited that the day is here and the pool is ready for you all.

As a token for the delayed opening, we are offering FREE public swims (everything except lessons) for the remainder of July.

TOWN NOTICE: FREE LANE & PUBLIC SWIMS IN JULY

Pool opening will be announced by the Mahone Bay Pool Society. Please visit their official page for an update.

Maintenance is complete and the water has been given the all clear at the Mahone Bay Pool. We’re truly sorry for the disappointment this delay has caused.

The closure was due to an unexpected equipment failure, a reminder that we’re doing our best to keep an aging pool running, one fix at a time. Looking ahead, if we want a pool for future generations, a major investment is required.

And great news: The Mahone Bay Pool will be offering free lane and public swims through the remainder of July. If you’ve already purchased a summer-long membership, you’ll receive credit for July, and if you’ve yet to buy yours, now’s the time to buy, with no charge for the month of July.

Please contact the pool to register for the 3 full sessions (6 weeks) of lessons on offer.

Summer is here and there’s no better way to enjoy it than a good swim.

Mahone Bay Pool Update - We're almost there!

It’s been all hands on deck at the Mahone Bay Pool! After equipment repairs and a full two days of filtration, both by pump and by hand, the pool specialists will be back tomorrow morning (Thursday, July 10) for what we hope will be the final pool water analysis.

Once maintenance and testing are complete, the Town will post an update, and the Pool Society will share the reopening news. Please check our pages for updates before making any plans around the pool opening.

Huge thanks to the amazing pool community for your kindness and patience. We have a little something planned to make it up to you!

Big shoutout to Sophie, the Pool Manager, for staying on top of water testing, and to the Town’s Public Works crew for jumping in to help with this unexpected project.

Update: July 7, 2025

We sincerely apologize for the circumstances surrounding the delayed opening of the Mahone Bay Pool. We understand how disappointing this is for families and children in our community.

An unforeseen issue with the pool’s sand filters required urgent maintenance this past weekend. Two of the three filters were repaired, and the third was replaced. Unfortunately, during the system restart, the filters released sand and debris into the pool.

Although the pool’s pH levels have remained within the safe range and some lessons were held today, the water has become cloudy again due to activity in the pool. To allow the sediment to fully settle and to properly clean the pool, we have made the decision to keep the facility closed to the public tomorrow.

We know this situation is far from ideal, and we are incredibly grateful for your patience and understanding. The Town is currently working on a plan to make up for this delay, and we will share more details soon.
