The leak in the water line on Harmony Road has been repaired so water has been turned back on. You can expect discolouration in the water so please keep the water running until it becomes clear.

REMINDER: We still have a Boil Order in effect.

Tomorrow morning (Friday, May 29th) beginning around 8:30 am, MICG garage crew will have to shut the water off for all households downhill. The time amount needed is not known but as soon as an update is available, MICG will make this public. The garage crew tried avoiding this but have come across an issue where this is necessary in order to repair the broken water line.

MICG appreciates your patience and understanding at this time. We do not have time to call all residents impacted as we did today, so please share and spread the word!

2026 MUNCIPAL TAXES (CURRENT)
Please be reminded that the last day to receive the 5% discount on this year's(2026) Municipal Taxes is Friday, May 29th, 2026. Any balances for 2026 owed after the end of July, will be subject to a 5% monthly interest charge.

OUTSTANDING MUNCIPAL TAXES( 2025 AND PREVIOUS)
Please note, that residents have been given sufficient time of one year and six months to remit payment(s) for 2025 taxes. As per MICG Policy, the disconnection date to pay these outstanding taxes is JULY 02, 2026. Failure to submit payment in full by July 02, 2026 at 4:00 pm will result in a work order(s) being issued the following day, Thursday, July 03rd, 2026, for our Municipal Crew to turn off the water at your curb stop. Please note, that there is a $ 50.00 re-connection fee.

If you would like to discuss your account balance for Municipal Taxes, please reach out to Chief Administrative Officer Jermaine Manning at (709) 923-2221 ext . 3 during normal business hours between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Or feel free to drop in anytime.

MICG and all facilities will be closed this afternoon (Thursday, May 14th) out of respect for the family and friends of the late Enid McNeill as they lay her to rest. MICG would like to recognize Enid's contribution to our town as she spent years in the position as Town Manager and also for her role within the Makkovik Craft Council. Sending condolences to her family and her large circle of friends at this time.

Last day to participate in our Emergency Preparedness Week Quiz. Answer any of questions in the comments section and you will be entered in for a draw of a large Automobile Emergency Kit. Great to have for travel and also good for your home! The questions are focused on Fire Safety.
