2026 Municipal Taxes

As per MICG Imposition of Municipal Taxes, a 5% monthly interest will be charged on any account balances owed for 2026 Municipal Taxes. To avoid these additional charges please remit payment .

Brian Wall is set up here at the Council Office now until 12:00 pm, and again from 1:00 - 3:00 this afternoon. Please note the change in location. This is NOT at the Fire Hall like it usually is, this is now at the MICG Office.

Winter driving is upon us once again.

Please use caution on the roads in these conditions and follow these tips.

MICG staff will be working on the roads until the departure of the last run of the Ferry for the season.

• Slow Down: Reduce your speed immediately and match it to changing road conditions.
• Brake Gently: Apply brakes smoothly and avoid sudden movements that can cause a skid. Do not pump anti-lock brakes (ABS)—hold firm, steady pressure if they pulse.
• Handle Skids Calmly: Steer gently in the direction the rear of your car is sliding.
• Clear Your Vehicle: Remove all snow and ice from your windows, roof, lights, and mirrors before driving.
• Watch for Black Ice: Be extra cautious on bridges, overpasses, and shaded areas.
• Use your four wheel or all-wheel drive option.
• Use winter tires.

Our Municipal Crew will start sanding the roads this morning. They will be contending to the most slippery areas first and will continue on.

Message from the Garage Crew:

After the bad weather these last few days, the roads are in bad shape therefore roads will be the focus for today. We will be hauling some crushed stone to distribute on the roads that have a lot of potholes. We are asking people to keep an eye out for some fresh stone piles that may be distributed. We will have these stone piles marked.
