📢Public Notice: Garbage Collection Tagging Clarification

The Municipality would like to clarify information related to garbage bin tagging conducted yesterday.

The purpose of the garbage bin tags was to support public education and help minimize overnight placement of waste containers at the curb.

Due to a miscommunication, an incorrect time was referenced on the tags.

In accordance with Bylaw 91-25, residents are requested to place their garbage cans at the curb between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., ideally as close to 5:00 a.m. as possible. We recognize that some residents work early shifts and may need to place their garbage out slightly earlier.

Garbage collection begins at 8:00 a.m. Please note that operators may adjust their routes from time to time, so pickup may occur earlier than residents are used to. Even if your usual collection time is later in the day, please ensure your garbage is set out by 8:00 a.m. to avoid being missed.

Residents are reminded not to place garbage out overnight, as it can attract bears and other wildlife. Proper garbage storage and placing waste out closer to collection time help reduce wildlife attractants and keep Manitouwadge safe.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation in supporting proper waste management practices.

National Indigenous History Month

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada—a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

It is an opportunity to reflect on the stories, achievements, and enduring resilience of Indigenous Peoples, who have lived on this land since time immemorial and continue to shape and strengthen communities across the country.

Throughout the month, we encourage everyone to take time to learn, listen, and deepen their understanding of Indigenous history, perspectives, and experiences.
