Sharing this message to anyone in the area who might have any information to help Dylan with his research:
"I am a researcher from the University of Calgary who is interested in studying formations of weak and water saturated soils that are found across Alberta. They are localized occurrences that appear as either mounds or regions of flat land and people may know them by a number of different names including; Soap Holes, Mud Holes, Mud Boils, Quicksand/Quickclay, Mud Volcanoes, Pingles. Our study is trying to understand how and why they form, and to assist in this we are trying to build a dataset of the spatial distribution of these features.
Alberta is a very big place, so we are hoping to engage with the members of the community as it is a lot of area to cover, and no one knows the land better than the people who live on it. What we are asking from the people of the community is if they want to report one of these features or are just interested in getting more information to please check our page (Soap Hole Research) or contact us at:

We are only looking to take pictures and record the coordinates of the formation to help build our dataset; the land will not be altered in any way.
Thank you for your time and we hope to hear back from you.
