I have two of these posters left. Riding with me in the truck. When I see an empty spot where one used to hang, I kindly ask to post a replacement.

In the act of rehanging the poster, I’ve found myself shifting my energy from this despondency that hangs around me of his Missing status; to a hopeful feeling of relief in Byron being found. This small shift in my mind, lifts my little spirit. We haven’t forgotten.

Byron. This is going to sound cheesy and poetic so just go with me on this one. You know we’ve taken the words from spiritual leaders, seen your casket and laid with you in the darkness in some dreams. We have searched those locations you spiritually led us to, and taken the words from the spiritual community to heart.

Searchers still finds themselves putting the pieces together. Replaying the locations of their designated search locations. Asking one another, how did we search, here, or here…was it foot search, off horseback, quads or drone search. What did we miss in LOOKING for you? Then it occurred to me, we were looking above ground. Then that despondent feeling erupted once again, in a single question … it is possible you were buried. BUT WHERE. Did we walk past you?

Please guide us there once again.

Let’s bring him home # he’s loved and missed

On November 26, 2023, 23-year-old Byron Watson disappeared from Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.

According to family members, Byron had been staying at his auntie’s home on Lonsdale Street when he left the residence that Sunday afternoon, telling relatives he would be back later. His family says nothing appeared unusual before he left, and he has not been seen since.

Byron is from Nekaneet Cree Nation and was employed at the Maple Creek Livestock Auction Barn at the time of his disappearance. Family members described him as dependable, social, and closely connected to both his family and community. In the days before he vanished, he had attended his younger brother’s hockey game and was reportedly planning to return to oilfield work in the new year.

Following his disappearance, multiple searches were conducted throughout Maple Creek, Nekaneet First Nation, and surrounding rural areas. Family members, community volunteers, and search teams participated in extensive ground searches, while Maple Creek RCMP also utilized drones and aerial searches.

Despite these efforts, no confirmed trace of Byron has been located.

At one point, CP Rail Police provided surveillance images of a person they believed may have resembled Byron near railway tracks in December 2023. After reviewing the footage, family members stated they did not believe the individual shown was him.

Family members have also publicly expressed concerns regarding the initial response to Byron’s disappearance. According to relatives, when they first attempted to report him missing, they were told police believed he was staying at a residence in Nekaneet First Nation. Family members later checked the location themselves and said Byron was not there.

As of now, investigators have publicly stated there are no confirmed leads explaining where Byron went after leaving the home on November 26, 2023.

Byron Watson is described as approximately 5’8” tall and around 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
