Rouge National Urban Park is comprised of a rich assembly of natural, cultural and agricultural landscapes with many remarkable features, including: amazing biodiversity with over 1,700 species of plants and animals; some of the last remaining working farms in the Greater Toronto Area; Carolinian forests; Toronto’s only campground; one of the region’s largest marshes; unspoiled beaches; amazing hiking opportunities; and human history dating back over 10,000 years, including some of Canada's oldest known Indigenous sites and villages.

If you’ve explored Rouge National Urban Park, you may have visited Bob Hunter Memorial Park and wondered: who exactly was Bob? 🔍

Bob Hunter was a Canadian environmentalist, journalist, author and co-founder of Greenpeace whose legacy lives on at Bob Hunter Memorial Park in .

From protesting nuclear testing and commercial whaling to using journalism and storytelling to bring environmental issues to the public, Bob became a leading voice in the environmental movement. He later continued his work as a writer, journalist and television personality, inspiring a new generation of environmental activists. 🌱
