The fire ban for the municipality of Markstay-Warren has been lifted effective immediately at 1:30pm Thursday July 30th.
The fire risk remains high and we ask all to use caution if planning on having a fire.
Reminder that open air burning, other than a campfire, requires a permit.

Mutual Aid in Action 🚒

Today, members of the Markstay-Warren Fire Department are proud to be assisting the St. Charles Fire Department through a mutual aid response to a forest fire in the St. Charles area.

Our firefighters joined St. Charles crews in continuing suppression efforts after the fire, believed to have been caused by a lightning strike from recent storms, was discovered yesterday evening. Working together, crews have wrapped the fire and are making steady progress attacking hotspots deep within the fire's centre.

We'd like to thank the St. Charles Fire Department for their leadership and all responding agencies, including the French River Fire Department, for their teamwork and dedication in protecting our communities and natural spaces.

⚠️ Please continue to avoid the area while firefighting operations are underway. Access to properties along Hickman Road will be maintained, but your cooperation helps keep everyone safe.

Stay safe, and thank you to all of our firefighters for their commitment and hard work.

Just a reminder, the fire ban is still in effect.

Happy Father's Day to all the firefighter dads out there!

We can handle structure fires, car wrecks, and medical calls without blinking an eye... but somehow a toddler with a marker and a bad attitude still keeps us on our toes. 😂

Here's to the dads who answer the call, protect their communities, and come home to a second shift of snack requests, endless questions, and bedtime negotiations.

Stay safe and enjoy your day. You've earned it!

You don’t always need fancy equipment to build valuable skills.

With a pile of old hose and a little firefighter ingenuity, we created our newest 160lb “victim” for a rescue scenario. We’re not saying he was the easiest patient to work with, but he definitely didn’t complain about being dragged across the floor. 😆

Our crews practice victim packaging, movement, and rescue techniques while getting a few laughs along the way. Sometimes the best training comes from thinking outside the box (or in this case, outside the hose rack).

A big thank you to everyone who came out and put in the work. Training nights like these help keep our skills sharp and remind us that firefighters can make just about anything useful.... including retired hose.

Meet our newest recruit. He’s quiet, cooperative, and never misses training. The only downside? He folds under pressure. 😂

Current forest fire danger is at EXTREME levels. Conditions are dry, and any spark can quickly turn into a fast-moving wildfire.

While there is no fire ban in place at this time, conditions are very dry and the risk of wildfire is exceptionally high. Please use extra caution with any activity that could cause a spark or flame.

✅ Be mindful when using ATVs, equipment, or machinery
✅ Properly dispose of ci******es
✅ Ensure campfires are fully extinguished and only where permitted
✅ Avoid activities that could create sparks in dry vegetation

Let's work together to protect our forests, wildlife, homes, and communities. Stay alert, stay safe, and share this information with others.

We're always training for the real thing!!!

Today's training focused on vertical ventilation operations and safe chainsaw use on pitched roofs. Our firefighters practiced coordinated roof ventilation techniques, ladder placement, communication, and working safely under realistic fireground conditions.

Roof ventilation is a critical skill that helps release heat, smoke, and toxic gases during a structure fire, improving conditions for both firefighters and occupants inside. Training like this ensures our crews stay prepared, confident, and ready to respond when seconds matter most.

Great teamwork and dedication from everyone involved!
