City of Martensville

City of Martensville The City of Martensville's official page Martensville is located eight kilometers north of Saskatoon. The future is bright in Martensville!

One of the fastest growing cities in Western Canada, Martensville is home to over 11,000 residents, 75% of which are under the age of 45. Residents say the quality of life, friendly people, small-town atmosphere and proximity to Saskatoon are the top reasons they love living in Martensville. They feel it’s a safe city with an inviting and welcoming community-feel. The current mayor of the City of

Martensville, Kent Muench, was elected in October 2016. He and the Martensville City Council, along with City Administration, are working hard to ensure Martensville maintains its small community feel while offering the services and economic development residents want. Over 400 licensed businesses operate in Martensville ranging from service industries to professional services, transportation and manufacturing. In recent years, commercial development in Martensville has exploded with businesses including Canadian Tire, Tim Horton’s, Dairy Queen, Canalta Hotels, Second Cup, Pharmasave, and a Co-op gas bar and convenience store. Businesses also benefit from competitive taxation policy. Sometimes known as ‘The Community of Lakes’ because of the ponds and creeks that have developed and formed through the storm drainage system, Martensville provides a lifestyle full of opportunities for recreation and leisure. Parks with winding trails and numerous recreational and service programs and clubs, an active volunteer community, a Sports Centre, Community Centre, outdoor pool and aquatic centre, and athletic pavilion all contribute to the City’s vibrant atmosphere. Each year over 30 community events take place in Martensville, including the popular Buster Days, an annual event that draws residents and people from surrounding communities to the city for a weekend of fun, sports and entertainment! The Wyant Group Raceway (formerly Auto Clearing Motor Speedway), Saskatchewan’s premier motorsports facility is located in Martensville – each year, Martensville is a stop on the Canadian NASCAR Circuit, as is the A&W 100 Race each September. There are four elementary schools in Martensville, with the two newest opening in the new Lake Vista subdivision in 2017. The City also recently partnered with the Prairie Spirit School Division to renovate the Martensville high school. The renovation included doubling the size of the existing high school, and the construction of a new state-of-the-art recreational facility that will serve the entire community (the Martensville Athletic Pavilion). The MAP features three full-size sports courts and a curved running track. In addition to five churches, police and fire service, Martensville offers a wide range of health services including massage and chiropractic services, physiotherapy, dentistry, optometry. A new Pharmasave opened in recent years and last year, a new physician to the city opened Martensville Health and Collective Wellness. Martensville’s strong population growth and has resulted in a housing market that features many newer and modern homes and neighborhoods. New housing developments are continuously underway, the largest of which is Lake Vista. Lake Vista features multi and single family homes, an abundance of park space and will provide housing for an additional 3,000 families. Martensville - a strong economy, thriving economic development, and a safe small-town feel.

The City is pleased to announce that Centennial Drive North will officially reopen to traffic today, August 28, following the completion of construction work as part of the Centennial Drive North Upgrade Project.

The completed project includes important improvements to the roadway, pedestrian connections and drainage infrastructure that will provide long-term benefits for residents, businesses and the surrounding area.

While the road is reopening, some minor finishing work will continue, including final cleanup, seeding within the road right-of-way and removal of the temporary access road. This work is not expected to require any additional road closures, however temporary lane restrictions may be in place for short periods of time.

The contractor is expected to begin removing the temporary access road on Saturday, August 29. Motorists are asked to use caution around work crews and equipment while this work is underway.

The City thanks residents, businesses and motorists for their patience, and flexibility throughout the construction process.
