Lagoon Update:
A contract is currently being finalized for upcoming maintenance at the municipal sewage lagoon. Over time, sludge buildup has filled up to 56% of some treatment cells, severely limiting our wastewater capacity. Cleaning them out is necessary to restore capacity and mitigate long-standing odor issues. Following required environmental testing, landfill approvals were recently granted to allow the project to move forward.

What to expect:
The smell from the lagoon will get worse before it gets better. Physically disturbing and extracting decades of deep sludge will temporarily release intense odors into the air. While unpleasant, this is an unavoidable, short-term step required to significantly reduce the root cause of the smell for the long term.

Work with the contractor is ongoing to set the project schedule. Once concrete timelines are confirmed, an update will be provided detailing work dates and what to expect during the cleanup phase.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation as we navigate this project.

🚧 Dust Control Update 🚧

Our Public Works team is scheduled to begin the first dust control application this week (weather permitting)!

The City manages dust control in two applications each year (typically with the first application in June, and the second in August).

Here is what you need to know:
👉 Crews will be grading and compacting roads so the suppressant binds properly.
👉 Application depends on precise weather conditions (10°C–30°C, 40%–70% humidity, and low wind).

Thank you for your patience and for giving our crews room to work safely!

🌿Reminder! Next week is spring cleanup week!🌼

🐝New dates for Spring Cleanup Week have been confirmed!🌷

It’s that time of year again where we spruce up our yards for warmer weather and need somewhere to put our clippings, cuttings and compost!

During the week of June 1-5 place bags of yard refuse and bundled sticks in your back alley by 7:30 AM on your regular garbage/recycling day.

Note: that branches may be picked up separately, possibly as late as the following week. 🌳
