Celebrating Innovation at the Medicine Hat Future Builders 2026 Awards

An inspiring evening at Medicine Hat City Hall as we celebrated the incredible creativity and problem-solving of our Future Builders students from Ross Glen School.

This year’s challenge invited students to reimagine the former “The Bay” space at Medicine Hat Mall, asking an important question: What does our community need? Using Minecraft Education, students brought bold, thoughtful ideas to life for a real audience and a real space.

Featured student projects were from Ross Glen students in Mr Tschritter’s class and included:

Emery Stewart – Emmy’s Daycare

Merritt Haland – Kingdom Sports

Riley Carolan – Gas City Connections Hub

Congratulations to all participants, and a special shoutout to the three winners, who each received a $100 gift card from Medicine Hat Mall in recognition of their outstanding work!

These projects highlight the creativity, empathy, and forward-thinking mindset of our students, true future builders of our community.

A huge thank you to the City of Medicine Hat, Medicine Hat Mall, and all community partners and judges for supporting this meaningful, real world learning experience.

A beautiful celebration of culture and community at the George Davison School Mosaic Culture Day. Students and their families proudly shared their cultures through food, traditional games, music, dance, dress, and more. It was a day that everyone looks forward to; the space was filled with incredible aromas, vibrant experiences, fabulous outfits and a true sense of belonging.

A highlight this year was the long, family-style table that brought everyone together, creating space to connect, share stories, and learn from one another. Events like this help build understanding, strengthen relationships, and ensure every person feels welcome and valued. The school’s garden club also added a thoughtful touch, sending visitors home with their very own vegetable plant.

By exploring Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives, we can deepen our understanding of one another and build lasting relationships and respect that we carry forward together.

What is your favourite way to reflect on the land?
