Have a security camera at your home or business? Consider registering it with the City of Melfort’s Security Camera Registry.

The registry is completely voluntary and helps identify where security cameras are located throughout our community.

🔒 Your privacy matters:

- The City does not have access to or monitor registered cameras.
- Registration only identifies that a camera exists at a particular location.
- The Registry does not provide the City or RCMP with live access to cameras.

If a crime is being investigated in your area, the City or local RCMP may contact you to ask if you have relevant footage available. You decide whether to share any footage — there is no obligation to provide it.

📢 Friendly Bylaw Reminder

A reminder to residents that the Traffic Bylaw, School Zones is in effect to help keep our students safe.

🚸 Please pay attention to parking restrictions around crosswalks and schools.

• 🚫 “No Parking” and “No Stopping” areas may be established around crosswalks near schools.
• 👀 Parking too close to a crosswalk can block visibility for both pedestrians and drivers approaching the crossing.
• 🚌 Loading Zones are designated areas for loading and unloading students. Please use these areas when dropping off or picking up students.
• ⚠️ Following posted parking restrictions helps improve visibility and safety for everyone using the crosswalk.

These restrictions are in place to help ensure pedestrians, particularly children walking to and from school, can safely use crosswalks.

Thank you for your cooperation and for doing your part to keep Melfort's streets safe for everyone!

🚨 New Carbon Monoxide Alarm Requirements

The Province of Saskatchewan has legislated new carbon monoxide (CO) alarm requirements under Henry’s Law.

CO alarms are required in all residential suites, including:

🏢 Apartments & condominiums
🏠 Homes with secondary suites
🏡 Multi-unit residential buildings
👨‍👩‍👧 Alternative Family Care Homes
🧸 Family Child Care Homes
🏠 Caregiver Homes approved for children in the care of the Ministry of Social Services

📅 Deadline to install: November 1, 2026

The requirements apply regardless of when the building was originally built or last renovated.

City Building Officials and the Melfort Fire Department may enforce these requirements during routine inspections.

☀️ That’s a wrap on Summer Playground! 🎉

What a summer it’s been! A huge thank you to everyone who came out and made the Summer Playground Program such a fun part of the season.

From weekly themes and outdoor adventures to games, crafts, splash days, and everything in between, we loved seeing so many kids and families join us throughout the summer.

👟 1,500+ participants took part in the program this summer!

A special thank you to The Salvation Army for providing a FREE hot dog lunch every Wednesday. 🌭 Your support helped make Wednesdays extra special!

And, of course, thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Send-Off to celebrate the end of another great summer together! 🎈

We hope you had as much fun as we did. See you next summer! 💛
