The Lions Reading Den is back this July — and ready to help young readers thrive.

This free, high‑quality remedial program runs from July 6 -24, and is led by professional elementary teachers using UFLI resources. Last year was our first year, and every student made significant progress.

The program is designed for children entering Grades 2 or 3 in September who are struggling with reading and would benefit from more intensive support.

To keep instruction personalized, space is limited to just 12 students. If you know a child who could benefit, please share this post or encourage families to apply early before spots fill.

Find more information and the application form on our website: https://merrickvillelibrary.ca/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/2026-Lions-Reading-Den-Application-Form-2026-03-27-fillable.pdf

A big thank you to local seamstress Nancy Hull for creating these delightful new Dr Seuss cushions for our children's area!
They're making the space even more fun and welcoming for our young readers.

And thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring these "new titles" 😂

Thank you to our volunteer repair crew for their hard work at last week’s Repair Café.
They spent the afternoon repairing small appliances, mending clothing, and getting bikes road‑ready for the warm weather we keep hoping will show up. 😂

If you’ve got something that needs fixing, stay tuned for our next Repair Café.
This initiative is a collaboration between Sustainable Merrickville‑Wolford and the Library.
