🌱🍎 Did you know? The Learning & Living Green program helps students understand the importance of waste diversion both at school and at home!

This successful initiative is made possible through a partnership between the County of Simcoe and four local school boards, working together to make organics participation a priority in schools across the region.

👏 Last year, 75 schools took part in the program, resulting in more than 4,200 organics carts being collected!

Together, we're helping students develop lifelong habits that contribute to a cleaner, greener future. 💚

What did Orillia look like in 1854? 🎨🏞️ This stunning watercolour by Captain William Henry Grubbe offers a glimpse into the community as it appeared more than 170 years ago.

Captured during a visit to Orillia in August 1854, this watercolour is part of the Simcoe County Archives image collection. Grubbe was also the builder of the historic home at 268 Codrington Street in Barrie, now a designated Heritage Property.

The Townships of Tay and Tiny were originally incorporated as a United Township in 1851 before Tay separated in 1869.

This map of Tay Township and South Orillia Township comes from the 1881 H. Belden & Co. Atlas and is featured in the 1975 reprint edition preserved by the Simcoe County Archives.
