Millarville Community School News and information regarding Millarville Community School.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. At Millarville Community School, students in Kindergarten to Grade 5 support the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The PYP focuses on the development of the whole child as it strives to prepare stu

dents to be world citizens and lifelong learners. The curriculum is designed to meet the academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural needs of young students. Using the Alberta Education Program of Studies, curriculum is developed around six transdisciplinary themes that help teachers and students explore knowledge in the broadest sense of the word:
- Who we are
- Where we are in place and time
- How we express ourselves
- How the world works
- How we organize ourselves
- Sharing the planet

At the heart of the PYP is a commitment to “structured inquiry” as a vehicle for learning. Through inquiry, concept-based questions are used to explore curricular themes and to help students to make significant connections.

Curious minds in motion at TELUS Spark Science Centre 🔬✨

Our junior high inquirers dove headfirst into hands-on learning—testing, building, questioning, and discovering. When the classroom stretches into the real world, concepts click a little deeper and curiosity grows a little louder.

This is what it looks like when learning comes alive.

Through the Minds Matter program and Ms Tanna, students in K-3 have a place to share ideas, express themselves, and let their creativity flow.

A little space to think, create, and connect can make a big difference. 🧠
