Today, NCC came together with partners in St. John’s to announce the 1,600-hectare Beothuk Lake conservation area in central Newfoundland.

This project was made possible by a leadership investment from Teck and support from the Environment and Climate Change. Collaborating to protect nature now ensures prosperity for generations to come.

Aujourd’hui à St. John’s, CNC s’est joint à des partenaires pour annoncer la création de l’aire de conservation du lac Beothuk, d’une superficie de 1 600 hectares et située dans le centre de l’île de Terre-Neuve.

Ce projet a été rendu possible grâce à un investissement majeur de Teck et au soutien de l'Environnement et Changement climatique. Collaborer à la protection de la nature aujourd’hui assure la prospérité de générations futures.

Think Before you flush!!
When you flush something other than human waste and toilet paper it can cause pipe blockages in septic systems potentially causing Sewer Back ups and the need for costly repairs.

The Big Announcement has been made 🎉
Please drop by the Open House at the Community Center on Saturday August 29 at 11am if you have any questions regarding the New Beothuk Lake Nature Reserve. There will also be a sign unveiling at the intersection of the dirt road that all are welcome to take part in as well.

Today, a new conservation area is pushing the needle forward. The new Beothuk Lake Nature Reserve safeguards vital habitat for Atlantic salmon and woodland caribou, while also securing water resources for surrounding communities who call the area home.

More than 1,600 hectares of boreal forest, wetlands and freshwater shoreline along Beothuk Lake and the Exploits River are now protected thanks to this exciting partnership between the Nature Conservancy of Canada, Teck and the Environment and Climate Change . Aujourd’hui, une nouvelle aire de conservation y fait progresser la protection de la nature La nouvelle réserve naturelle du lac Beothuk permet en effet de sauvegarder l’habitat vital du saumon atlantique et celui du caribou des bois, tout en protégeant les eaux dont dépendent les collectivités de cette région.

Plus de 1 600 hectares de forêt boréale, de milieux humides et de zones riveraines d’eau douce le long du lac Beothuk et de la rivière Exploits sont désormais protégés grâce à un partenariat prometteur entre Conservation de la nature Canada, Teck et l'Environnement et Changement climatique.
