Its Fire Prevention Week!

Lithium-ion batteries are part of everyday life, powering everything from phones and laptops to e-bikes and power tools. They're generally safe, but they can pose a fire risk if they're damaged or not charged properly. This year, we're highlighting the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk and keep your home safe.

We are recruiting! 🚒

The North York Fire Department is staffed entirely by volunteers. Different ages, different backgrounds, different skill sets, and one shared purpose: a commitment to our community.

We provide the training. What we need is your time, and your willingness to learn. Whether you're 18 or 58, a tradesperson, a teacher, a student, or a stay-at-home parent, there's a place for you here.

If you're looking for a way to give back, build new skills, and be part of an incredible team, reach out, or come see us in person at our open house on October 24:

A few of our members were in Miramichi this weekend, sharpening their skills alongside firefighters from all over the province at the annual NBAFC Fire Services Workshop.

Training opportunities like these help keep us ready to serve our community. 🚒

We're looking for a structure in Millville or the surrounding area that we could use for training on October 16th and 17th.

We'll be practicing advancing hose through a structure, so ideally it will be something we can flow (a lot of) water in, like a vacant house, barn, or garage. We can also work without actually spraying the water, but things are likely to get a little wet and a little dirty regardless.

Please share, and if you know of a property we could use, send us a message, or reach out to us at [email protected]

Thank you!

We've just received some exciting new equipment that will strengthen our ability to respond to wildfires quickly and effectively. 🔥

This new fire skid has been added to Unit 21, featuring a 200-gallon water tank, pump, and hose reel. It gives us added flexibility and speed in our response, particularly in more remote areas that can be difficult to reach with our regular apparatus.

A big thank you to GlobalMedic for their generous donation, and for helping us be better prepared to serve our fantastic community!

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Fire Chief Joshua Liston on his promotion to Deputy Fire Chief, serving as the first officer for Nackawic-Millville fire station 3 (Millville).

Deputy Liston has served since 2012 alongside his father who is also a member. Deputy Liston is the son of Michael and Jennifer Liston (Maple Ridge).

Congratulations, Josh!
