Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Fall Fair and signed the pledge to test their smoke alarms!

Taking a few minutes to test your smoke alarms can make a lifesaving difference and help keep you and your family safe.

It’s Test Your Smoke Alarm Day!

Take a minute to test your smoke alarms and make sure they're working properly. A working smoke alarm provides the early warning you need to escape safely in a fire. Don't wait until it's too late. Encourage your family, friends, and neighbours to test theirs too.

Press the button. Hear the beeps. Help save lives.

Test the beep. Practice the plan.

Pair your smoke alarm test with a quick family fire escape chat so everyone knows what to do when the beep sounds for real.

On Sept. 28, press the test button, let your kids hear the sound, and practice your way out together.

Twenty-five years ago, 343 members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others.

Today, we remember their bravery, honour their sacrifice, and recognize the courage of first responders everywhere.

Their legacy lives on, and we will never forget.

A new place means a fresh start — make sure it's a safe one!

In Ontario, landlords are required to install and maintain smoke alarms outside all sleeping areas and on every storey — and carbon monoxide alarms too, if the home has a fuel-burning appliance, fireplace, or attached garage.

As a tenant, your job is to let your landlord know if the smoke or carbon monoxide alarms aren’t working

Not sure how to start the conversation? Visit Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal for tips, tools, and ready-to-use resources.
