This weekend, as we reflect on what it means to be Thankful & Grateful, we are reminded that community is built in the everyday moments.

Whether it's working side-by-side in the kitchen, learning a new life skill, sharing a laugh, or building a sense of belonging, true connection happens when we support one another just as we are.

To the individuals, families, and support teams who make our community so vibrant: thank you for inspiring us every day. However you are spending this weekend — sharing a meal, connecting with chosen family, or taking time to rest — we wish you comfort, warmth, and peace. 🍂✨

We are proud to see our Adult Life Program and the experiences of our diverse abilities adult participants highlighted by the Milton Chamber of Commerce.

Every day brings opportunities to build connections, try something new, strengthen independence, and discover what is possible. We are grateful to our participants, families, team members, and community partners who help make those opportunities meaningful.

Last month, our team was absolutely delighted to be invited to a local resource fair at a Milton-based school! 🏫✨

Representing Pivot Point Family Services Canada, our Regional Manager Kristin Grant (R) and Adult Services Program Manager Sarah Burgess, BCBA, RBA (L), had a wonderful time meeting and chatting with so many wonderful families. It was a fantastic opportunity to share information about our Neuroaffirming programs we provide for children, youth, and adults, listen to the unique challenges of the local community, and build meaningful new connections. 💙

We are deeply grateful to have been included in such a vibrant event and look forward to continuing to strengthen our ties within Southwestern Ontario!

Grab a warm cup of your favourite beverage and settle in — we have something truly special to share with you today. 💛☕️

At our recent End of Summer BBQ, we debuted a beautiful video montage celebrating the past year with our incredible adult participants. Today, we are so excited and moved to be able to share it with our extended online family.

Over these 10 minutes, you will see a vibrant tapestry of joy, connection, and personal growth. From peaceful wagon rides to see the animals and tending to our beautiful gardens, to cooking up a storm in cook club, singing our hearts out at karaoke, and sharing quiet moments in reading club. You'll see the pure joy of our social times, the fun of planning events, and the celebration of so many wonderful birthdays. 🌻🚜🎶

But the most beautiful part of this video is hearing directly from the participants themselves. Woven throughout these memories are snippets of heartfelt commentary from our adults with diverse abilities, sharing how these activities and connections have brought so much love and warmth into their lives, and how they feel their overall quality of life has blossomed.

To hear them express what this community means to them is the greatest reward we could ever ask for. We are so profoundly grateful and humbled to share in their journey, witness their successes, and be a part of their chosen family.

For the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, the Pivot Point Family Services Life Program took dedicated time to learn, reflect, and participate in meaningful community discussion. 🧡

After gathering for a conversation about the significance of Orange Shirt Day, participants visited the Indigenous Garden to continue their reflection surrounded by nature.

Observed across Canada, this day honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, as well as Survivors, their families, and Indigenous communities. It offers an important reminder to examine the ongoing impacts of the residential school system and consider how each of us can contribute to truth, healing, and reconciliation.

Throughout the visit, our participants approached the day with curiosity, respect, and open hearts. Creating intentional spaces to learn about Indigenous histories, cultures, and lived experiences is essential to building a truly inclusive community.

Join us for a spooktacular evening at our Pumpkins After Dark & Halloween Party! 👻🎃

Experience an enchanting night surrounded by thousands of hand-carved pumpkins and creative Halloween displays. We’ll begin with the Pumpkins After Dark tour, followed by warm Halloween hot chocolate, snacks, drinks, and light refreshments to enjoy together. ☕🍿

It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect, unwind, and soak up the spirit of the season in a fun and relaxed setting.

Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their favourite Halloween costume and add to the festive fun! 👻🕸️

Life skills are built through meaningful experiences, shared with others.

During a Cooking Club session in June, participants in our Adult Life Program prepared fresh vegetables together, building practical skills while enjoying time connected with one another.

Experiences like these create opportunities to practice everyday skills, make choices, contribute to a shared activity and build confidence through participation. The value continues beyond the activity itself, as skills and confidence developed through shared experiences can support greater independence in everyday life.

At Pivot Point Family Services Canada, we know that meaningful learning happens in everyday moments, especially when diverse abilities adults have opportunities to participate, contribute and experience success together.

☀️ Let’s send off summer in style! ☀️

Join us for our End of Summer BBQ! We are hosting a fun, relaxing afternoon to celebrate and connect with the entire Pivot Point community family, and we would absolutely love to see you there. 🍔🌭

Whether you're a current client, family, a friend, or just someone who wants to learn more about our community — YOU are welcome to join the fun! This event is 100% FREE.

Our amazing staff will be facilitating an afternoon packed with games, a talent showcase, and tons of fun activities. We’ll be firing up the grill to serve hamburgers and hot dogs, with delicious vegan options available too! 🥗
